I booked a room for my daughter and her husband and family due to my dad‘s death. Newton is a very small community and my childhood home. My daughter called the hotel and asked for an early check-in and said that they would arrive about 2 PM and David the employee of cobblestone said that would be fine. My daughter, her husband and two children needed to get ready for the visitation when they arrived. The visitation was at 3 PM so it was imperative that they get an early check-in. When they arrived, nobody was anywhere to be found and they waited in the lobby for over 20 minutes And my daughter called me because no one was there at the hotel to check them in and the visitation was at 3 o’clock and they needed to get into the room. When David finally arrived, he said they could not check in early and they could not start bringing in any of their belongings and that they needed my credit card to check in. I called the hotel and spoke to David and asked under the conditions. Could he please just let them get into their room and I assured him that I would be there and pay for the room. They had my credit card on file to secure the room. But David was not empathetic or understanding at all and insisted that I risk being late to my dad‘s visitation just to present my credit card. He was extremely rude when I arrived and walked out of the room and said he was not going to allow them to even check in early. At this time, it was 20 minutes before 3 PM. He was the rudest and nonprofessional individual. I have ever come in contact with at a hotel. I was extremely devastated and upset at his non-professionalism and inability to work with us under the...
Read moreMy husband and I checked were in by the people at the front desk as soon as we walked in. The people are very kind and friendly! If you are looking for a hotel this is the only one around. This will be a very honest review. The room we stayed in was on the second floor kingsize bed. DONT be looking for any elevators there isn’t one. The room was very bland with the smallest tv! The tv didn’t work at first until my husband fixed their dish hookup by reseating the access card on the direct tv box. As for the flooring I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO WALK AROUND YOUR ROOM BAREFOOT. 🤢 The floor is very sticky. Reminds me of one of the old casino carpets. As for the bathroom don’t expect the tub to look new. It’s very old with a yellowest shower curtain. Not much space in there the door take up all bathroom room!! As for the bedding it’s was clean. That was the best thing about the room. 👍🏻 You also get a microwave and small mini fridge which was also a plus. The ac worked great!
For the downstairs area: The breakfast was decent. They have a lot of options but don’t expect the food to be Michelin star or anything. It’s very typical hotel food. The orange juice was my favorite. They also had an open bar with some slots. Which is nice if you want to grab a quick drink and play on some luck. 🍀
All-in-all: I would give this place a 2.8 out of 5. The room was a little pricey for only a 2 night stay at $254. I’ve seen better with lower prices, but then again they are the only place around that’s why they say they...
Read moreThe hotel was nice inside & looked clean. The first person to help us when we checked in was Marc and he was very kind and helpful. The big downfall on our room was the carpet had huge staples sticking out that my boyfriend and myself had both stepped on. One of the staples caught him so bad he started bleeding.. so be careful and cautious of that especially if you have children. The morning after our stay we were woken by a power outage in the hotel. We went down to eat breakfast and they were limited on what you could have because basically everything needed electricity... kind of annoyed I had to eat cold breakfast with nothing to drink when I forked out $134 for a one night stay. When I made a comment about this, the front desk person (some blondeish short haired man) at the time gave me a dirty look and said nothing else. He also was not wearing a name tag which there was a sign stating that at ALL TIMES employees must be wearing name tags. The guy was not friendly and gave me a bad taste in my mouth for this hotel. Overall was a fine stay minus the blah breakfast and rude worker.. I still just can’t fathom a huge hotel like this not having a backup generator! Takes notes for the future and...
