Booked a room at Nisswa Inn & Suites for a one night stay while on a family road trip. Having two young kids, we chose this hotel because they had a pool and free continental breakfast. Boy, do I wish I would have read the reviews here first! Upon arrival, there was a hand written note on the front door stating that the pool and hot tub were closed and there was no continental breakfast. There was no mention of this on the website or in the confirmation email when we booked. The condition of the hotel was also very different than it appeared in photos. Very old and run down. Since we were nearly 24 hours past the cancellation window, I figured we would have to make the best of it so we checked in anyway. We arrived to our room and the disappointment continued. There was a horrible mildewy smell, the bedding had stains and burn holes all over it (it was a non smoking room but I am certain it was a smoking room in the past), a dirty towel was hanging in the bathroom, there was a giant hole behind our door from the door handle smashing through, one lamp didn’t work and the other had a broken lampshade, there were dead bugs all over the floor near the window, the furniture and decor were all old and in rough shape. We opened the window to try to air it out but the screen had a large gap and we didn’t want more bugs to get in so had to close it. A small bag of potpourri hung on a rack but did nothing to mask the awful smell. I took my kids into town and searched for another hotel room but with it being a Friday night in the summer, almost all the hotels in the area were booked. We went into town, went out to eat, went to the zoo and stayed out of the hotel for as long as we possibly could and only went back to go to sleep. Went to the ice machine to fill my water bottle to find a note that it was not working either. The walls and doors were very thin and we could hear people coming and going from rooms near us, people stomping in the room above us and loud arguments in the hall all night. My kids kept asking me to check that our door was locked because they were afraid. I found an email address for the hotel and sent an email that night, expressing how disappointed we were in our room and the condition of the hotel in general and how unacceptable it was to advertise a pool, hot tub and breakfast and not inform guests that none of those things are actually available when booking. Had we known before booking or even in our confirmation after we booked, we would have been able to cancel within the 24 hour cancellation window and found another room elsewhere. In the morning, we packed up and headed out as soon as we could. I stopped at the desk to check out and told the front desk staff how disappointing our stay was and that I had sent an email to management requesting a refund. She said she would pass my feedback along to management as well. It has been a full week and I have not received a response from the hotel yet. ||This hotel is in such poor condition that it needs to be either gutted and completely renovated or just bulldozed. By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere as you do not want...
Read morecalled on March 21, 2023 and booked Friday and Saturday for July 28 and 29th in the two room suite. I talked with Julie who also sent me a confirmation that I had made the reservation for the two room suite. When we got there on Friday, July 28 to check in at 4 PM Julie was there to check me in and stated that we did not have the two room suite that someone else was already checked into that room. I showed her my email that she had sent me back in March that I had booked that room. She did a dead stare at me. there was also another woman at the desk. Both of them looked very confused. I told them that the room that they gave me which was a two queen bed. One room was not going to work. She said they were sold out and had no other rooms. Did not give me any other options. I told her that she needed to figure something out that I needed another room. She said that they had one room left that was a king bed but not all four of us could sleep in that. I told her then that she would have to give me that room also with the two queen bedroom , she said she would have to charge me a hot another $189 a night for that room. I told her that was not acceptable. She told me she could not override it that there was no one there to do that that if I wanted that room she had to charge me $189 a night. Then the other woman said well we have that extra room you could give them that was just one queen bed in there. Without any other options, I took that other room. They were both very unprofessional and acted as if they had no customer service and did not know what to do in the situation. I was very unhappy, not getting the room I had chosen back in March and the way these two women handled the situation. I have tried three times to get a hold of the owner who has still not responded to me . I would never stay here again. Customer service was not good. At all the rooms, the hallway everything had an...
Read moreROACHES Booked a room through Expedia on Friday October 6th for that evening for a pet friendly room. When I arrived at hotel I was charged an additional pet fee after being asked about my dogs service papers (not legal) instead of fighting I paid the fee as I needed a place to stay w my family and service dog and room was already paid for. Got to my room which had dirty q tips all over in it and peubic hair on bathroom walls. Went to go check out pool and hot tub, which I was told over phone was in working order and it was not. The pool was cloudy and freezing with no lights and the hot tub was broken and same temp as pool while the floor of hot tub was covered in sand or dirt. Get back up to my room to change out of wet clothes after being in hot tub less than 5 minutes. I go in my bathroom and as I was changing I accidently bumped toilet and out from behind toilet came roaches . We promptly packed up our things and called Expedia to get placed elsewhere for the night and while on phone another customer overheard and said they also had roaches in their room. Expedia could not refund us or replace us bc the hotel refused to refund our stay and we refused a different room. We talked with front desk and brought them the roach and pictures and we were treated very poorly. My husband was called names and was told he was rude and disrespectful for his accusations and that they don't have roaches but elder bugs which they are being sprayed for. We Google searched the picture of the roach right in front of staff to prove they were roaches and they proceeded to call us names and deny us a refund. I would not stay in this hotel even if my only alternative was to stay on street. Hotel staff and owner will not work with us or even call us back to try and come to a conclusion and are booking rooms knowing full well they are infested but refuse to do anything about it! Stay clear...
