First time at Grand View - we LOVED it. We stayed at the North Lodge - which was built in 2019 and certainly looks it, as it still appears crisp, clean and like new. Our room was large, very clean and well appointed.
Having been our first time, it takes half a day to learn the 'layout' of a larger resort such as Grand View - but they make it easy with awesome staff, large maps and great navigation street signs throughout the grounds. Grounds were very clean, can't remember seeing a piece of litter all weekend.
They have 5 main restaurants on-site - from formal steak house and a seafood dinging experience to two pubs with good bar food and drinks. We are not formal people, so we stuck to the pubs on grounds then ventured into town for a few meals. Food was good and service top notch. There's a fitness facility, swimming pools indoor and outdoor (one larger one for older kids and adults and one that’s zero entry for smaller kiddos). The grounds make you feel like you are at a place where you belong and can forget your daily grind, it's very relaxing. There's also a spa (which we did not utilize). Proximity is great to Nisswa and shopping and more food options.
We truly enjoyed our stay here and will 100% be repeat guests. We had a package that included a well-appointed (and kid friendly) full breakfast buffet with very fast service and fully catered to during the entire meal. The price was steeper than staying at a stand-alone hotel, but as I said, this place makes you feel like you belong there and let's you unwind from the moment you drive onto the grounds!
P.S. - there's lots of Grand View sponsored activities and it's all printed out - along with free grounds shuttle. While large it did not feel busy at all....lots of places to enjoy yourselves alone - and then know exactly where to go to find some entertainment with other...
Read moreWe absolutely enjoyed our stay at the North Grand View Lodge for my wife's birthday. Our check in was extremely easy, rooms were immaculate, and there are a lot of great areas outside of the rooms to hang out, get work done, or just sit by a nice fireplace. They also have a perfect little coffee shop with amazing coffee.
Room: Bed was a little firm, but I prefer this at hotels/lodges to a soft bed. Plus, on each side, there were charger plug-ins and switches for lights, which was great. Only bad thing about the rooms was maybe the mini fridge was extremely small. Couldn't fit much in there. Room does have a safe as well. Bathroom had a gigantic shower, a nice sink, and a good toilet. Beware though, our room had a barn door which I don't really prefer since you can't lock it. My wife enjoyed opening it every chance she had...but whatever. Might be more annoying if you had other family over.
Around the resort: Everything is pretty expensive. We were surprised that breakfeast, which we thought was included and was just a typical hotel breakfeast, was $40 for 2 people! We didn't really eat that much and we had to tip someone just to get us coffee and apple juice. Other meals were at least $50-60 for two people. We spent a lot of money here just to eat food and the quality at each restaurant isn't worth that money in my opinion. We should have just gone to...
Read moreWe were in the new construction zone at Grand View Lodge. We were in a duplex like building, with two King beds, a natural gas fireplace, mini fridge, coffee maker, and nice big bathroom with plenty of counter space. We had a porch which faced the other houses and road. There were upgraded rooms, which included an outdoor fire pit. We were able to hear the neighbors, which was really only noticeable the first night because they were rowdy. The walk to the main desk is quite a trek. Next time I'd bring a bike (which they do have some for rent) There is a candy shop on site as well as a few restaurants and a coffee shop. We were very pleased with the breakfast buffet! Lots to choose from, and all yummy. We had one fancy night out at he wine bar. It was a nice experience,...
