True North - Lodge House & Cabins — Hotel in Nisswa

Our multi-generational family ranging in age from 22 to 92 stayed at True North mid-summer 2025. We rented the entire complex that included the tastefully furnished Lodge right on Lake Roy and the Clubhouse and Little Cabin across the way where the pickleball/tennis court is. Our family goes to a different location each summer and this was our first time in the Midwest. True North did not disappoint. We did all of our meals at home. The large open space and efficient kitchen plus the large dining table with leaves was perfect for that. There were no complaints about the beds and all appeared to sleep well. Perhaps waking up to loons calling. The lake is very accessible with chairs down by the beach and the dock ready for sunbathing and tying up boats. You can get a good sense of the space by doing the virtual tours included in Chad’s website. Our check-in and check-out were easy. Chad was very accessible when contacted. It's a beautiful set of properties. The main house is stunning and spacious, with nice amenities. Each room is well-appointed and the kitchen easily facilitates large meals. There's a great kids' sleeping area, which gives them room to hang, blissfully sequestered from the adults. The lake is easily accessible; it's a bit mucky at the bottom but still easy to have lots of fun. The game and gym rooms in the basement were a blast, and the movie theater was a hit with the kids.

Across the street, the other properties are a bit more rustic but still very enjoyable. The whole expanse feels well put together, affording our large-ish group plenty of opportunities to hang together but also get some alone time as needed. The tennis/pickleball court was a huge hit. Several pickleball converts were made on our trip!

Finally, the town is close by and it's a short ride (or a medium walk) in for ice cream and other activities.

Throughout, Chad was extremely responsive to any of our issues. We loved our time at True North and look forward to...

Amazing little cabin with amenities close to Nisswa. We had a blast at true north’s little cabin, there is nothing like sitting in a hot tub during a snow fall, it was pure magic. The sauna was a welcome retreat after a cold day hiking at Itasca State Park. The -25 degree weather was no match for our truck. We let Chad know we had car trouble and were waiting for a tow and he told us to stay for as long as we needed and to text him when we left. We will definitely be back to...
