We purchased our stay also through Groupon. Scheduled for March 2012 and then received a phone message shortly later (about a week) stating they would be closed for renovations and to reschedule. Trying to get a hold of anyone to do this took about 2-3 weeks BECAUSE THEY NEVER ANSWER THEIR PHONES. We did finally reschedule for Memorial Day Weekend. We showed up right around 3 PM and waited another 20-30 minutes before anyone came to help us; we called the number they have displayed at their check-in desk for further assistance and could hear it ringing throughout the inn and no one answered. The woman who did help us came from within the inn so she effectively ignored our calls for 20-30 minutes. The inn itself is beautiful and historic, the beds are uncomfortable but the room and bathroom were clean and nice. We NEVER MET the "inn keeper" who I'm convinced doesn't really exist. We had no assistance with making reservations, finding places to eat, or activities to do. We've been to other B&B's and this is not typical; if they're going to market themselves as a B&B (which they clearly do no their website) then the service should match that. I would go back to the area but WILL...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Blackberry Inn for 2 nights. What a gem! It is a beautiful historic property with tons of charm. The rooms were clean and well kept. The breakfast was freshly made and delicious - good coffee, fresh fruit, yummy omelettes and waffles!!! Lukas was a delight. He took great care of the guests and offered us some great suggestions on places to visit in the area. The Campbell Falls, only a few minutes away, were lovely!
On the morning of our departure, I accidentally dropped my bag- sending all my belongings flying everywhere. My husband and I searched for a half hour for 2 pieces of jewelry that were missing. Unfortunately, we had to leave without locating them. As we were checking out, Lukas was so compassionate. He promised they would be certain to look for the items and would give me a call right away if they turned up. Thankfully, we ended up finding the jewelry scattered in our belongings. When I gave Lukas a call to let him know we found the lost items, he was so gracious and happy to hear. True and genuine caring and kindness!!! It was a wonderful stay and we can't wait to go back. Highly...
Read moreStayed 1 night at the Blackberry River Inn in Norfolk, CT. What a gem. We had a guest room in the Carriage House. The room was lovely and very clean with comfortable bed. I loved that I could open the window in the evening to get the cool air with the ceiling fan on. There was a window air conditioner in the 2nd window but we didn't need to use it. The bathroom provided amenities and iron and ironing board in the closet. Outside, the grounds were beautiful with a super clean in-ground pool with plenty of patio chairs & tables, a grill and picnic table. The included breakfast was wonderful. Absolutely beautiful breakfast room. Waitstaff was friendly and very accommodating with a smile. The food was amazing. The waffles were the best I've ever had. I was told the batter is homemade by the chef and the flavor was delicious. The fruit cup had many varieties of fruit including fresh pineapple (all the fruit was very fresh). Eggs, sausage, homefries were delish. They even make omelets to your specifications. No corners cut here, everything was so good and made with love. I will stay here again....
