This is by far the best USACE campground on Kerr Lake. We have stayed here many times (section A, B, and C) and each section is just as good as the others. The bathhouses are top notch; the bathrooms are located in conveniently to the campsites which is great if your tent camping; the beaches are immaculate and you rarely if ever find any glass on them like you do on many other lakes in NC & VA, they are also convenient to nearly every campsite; campsites are well shaded and well maintained; there are lots of areas that are great to fish from all while being able to let your kids swim near the same area; I've yet to be able to find any downsides to North Bend, overall it's just fantastic!

Campsites are $26 a night with electricity and water (which comes in handy when tent camping in the hottest part of the summer), $20 with/out electricity and no water hook-up. For the price, you won't be sorry!

The other campgrounds on the VA side of Kerr, just don't compare (we've camped at each of them at least 2 and every time have wished we had went to North...

Gets 4 stars. My husband and I went here because we love to fish and we wanted to use our kayaks. We are only a few hours from buggs island. And wanted to give it a try. The fishing is AMAZING. Most of the camp sites are SUPER shady. The sites are nicely spaced out. While you do have people next to you. You still have lots of woods. And lots of water views. . The bath house very clean. And they also have single bathrooms with shower toilet and sink (VERY NICE). Playgrounds for the kids. and Tons and Tons of places you can get down to the water. The campground is pretty quit. This isn't the campground full of loud drunks driving around on their golf carts. More family friendly to just enjoy the outdoors. One of the only things I did not like is they don't have a campground store to pick up fire wood or other things you may have forgot. Also they don't have trash cans around the campground so you have to walk or drive to the campground dump to throw anything out. I also don't like none of the rest rooms...

North Bend Campgrounds far exceeded our expectations. I wasn’t really sure what to expect when we booked here but pulling in I was floored with how beautiful this area is. Absolutely gorgeous.

Our campsite was 118, which is the last campsite at the end of the “peninsula”. It had pros and cons. We camped with 2 adults, 2 kids aged 14 and 4, and two dogs.

Pros: It had a nice wind flow, less bugs because of the wind and spectacular views. Cons: it got too windy and ripped our campsite apart on the second night due to a storm that moved through. The campsites for the most part are gravel and it’s very hard to get stakes into the ground.

The campgrounds overall are clean and well kept. Bathrooms could use a little more work, noticed the workers spend a lot of time smoking, and hanging out talking to each other and less time cleaning the bathrooms.

Park rangers drive through frequently which I thought was nice. Made me feel a littler safer. Check in and check out was super easy. We will definitely...

We stayed at the May's Chapel group area Friday through Sunday. It was a very nice area, with close access to an almost private beach for the group area. The site was clean, grass was cut, no trash, nothing left in the fire pits. The site has electricity in the group gazebo. If you need or want electricity and camp on the water, you will need to bring a 60 foot cable to run it down there. The site as a whole overlooks the lake. There are many fire pits and picnic tables scattered throughout the site. There was ample parking for our group of 40. There is a private enclosed porta-potty on the site, and the bathrooms are a short walk about 3-5 minutes. The beach is sandy with some rocks below, so bring some water shoes. The water was very clear for a lake and the deepest part of the designated swimming area was 7ft. If you bring kayaks, boats, or jet skis, the boat ramp is a 1-3 minute drive to the ramp. You must wear life jackets or they ticket. We are looking forward to our next trip there!
