My husband and son have stayed at this hotel for years while attending OU games and have had pleasant experiences there. Mostly because of the breakfast buffet and food availability after the game. I have noticed when looking to book in recent years the cost increases considerably during football season which took them to other lodging.||We visited Norman recently and decided to stay one night here. The lobby is very nice and modern, but my first impression of the room was how small it was. The bathroom was like a closet. I understand nothing can be done to change the size of the rooms, but I'm only commenting on that issue for purposes of those reading reviews. If you don't like tight spaces or if you are a larger person, beware. The sink area only has 6" available space on either side of the sink. The toilet and tub are through the doorway and it is only 30" from the tub to the wall. Many elbow bumps when changing clothes and I'm not a very big person. ||The beds were comfortable, although there is usually a blanket at the end of the bed in other hotels. Not here. It was chilly that day and extra bedding would have been nice. The towels were horrible. Only two towels/two washcloths/two hand towels were provided. They felt like sandpaper. Soap . . . only one bar of soap and it's size was 1.75" x 1.75". So small it was even hard to manage while showering. The water pressure in the sink was pitiful.||Other reviewers said there was no microwave or refrigerator. Since we were there only one night and not on a vacation, we did not take snacks or beverages. I think we may have had a refrigerator, but I don't remember seeing a microwave. Coffeemaker was available and had (3) tea pods (we don't drink tea), (2) decaf coffee pods (we don't drink decaf), and only (1) regular coffee pod. There was a supply of creamer, but no sugar or sweetener. No stir sticks if you did add anything to your drink. That was probably housekeeping issue since the creamer was there.||Vending machines are down by the ice machine, but the one on our floor was empty. Checked the one on another floor and there were maybe five items in the whole machine. Snacks are in the gift shop in the lobby, but I never saw anyone working in the gift shop so I suppose you would pay for them at the check-in desk. Being on the 5th floor, having to go all the way down to the lobby and look for someone to take your money is a hassle.||Being a weekend and not a normal football weekend, I don't think they were super booked so noise wasn't a big issue. After we went to bed, there was a period of time someone sounded like they were clanging around in the hallway with maybe a cart. |Our room was next to the hotel laundry room and it sounded like it may have been laundry staff going in and out with the door slamming?||The breakfast buffet was wonderful which made up for most of the other issues. They have everything you could want. I ordered an omelet and they had a lot of choices on fillings. I probably should have asked how many eggs are in their omelets because mine was huge! Looked like a mega burrito. ||And, I have to add. Every single person from check-in, breakfast, and check-out was extremely polite and courteous. Can't change the room size, but changes to towels/soap/coffee provisions/vending machines would definitely be an...
Read moreAs a loyal Marriott guest, I booked a double room suite (promoted to sleep 4) for myself, my mid-teen grandson and his friend for a three-night stay. I was confused when told the NCED didn't award Marriott points although they use Marriott in their name/advertising. The 'suite' was actually two old and very small hotel rooms with a single door left open between them. A queen bed was in one room, a very small fold out couch and recliner in the other room. There were no linens for the fold out bed. The rooms were extremely warm but I assumed it would just take a little while to cool the rooms and turned the thermostat to 68 degrees. On our way to an appointment, I located the housekeeper who assured me linens would be put in our room. I returned a few hours later to find no bedding, called housekeeping and left a message. We went to dinner, returned at eleven pm, still no linens. I called the front desk and they said they would send housekeeping up. Thirty minutes later housekeeping showed up to ask what I needed. While again asking for linens for the fold out sofa, the housekeeper remarked on how warm our room was and said he would notify maintenance because the air conditioning was obviously not working. I followed him to housekeeping linen closet to get the linens. When I returned to my room, the key card had stopped working (boys had left the room because it was too warm) so I had to carry the bedding to the front desk at 11:35 pm., to have my keycard reset. The maintenance man arrived at 11:45 pm, checked the units and said the only way the rooms would cool is to keep the thermostat on 60 and explained the units were not like residential units. He changed out the refrigerator (boys had found it wasn't working) and, well after midnight, I started making beds for the boys. The bathroom was so small, I could flatten my palms on opposite walls at the same time (I'm 5'5" with normal arm span). A toilet and tub left less than a square yard to stand. The sink was just outside the bathroom, encased between two walls where my elbows could touch both walls at same time. I left early the next morning on a minor family emergency so my son/daughter in law came to stay with boys. I left a note for housekeeping asking them to leave the thermostats set on 60 and a $5 tip, then stopped by the front desk to inform them of the name change (I had prepaid for the stay). When my son and family returned to the hotel in the early evening, they found my note, money and housekeeping had never cleaned (there were no "privacy" tags on doors). At no time was I ever disrespectful or rude (I believe you get the best results being nice) and honestly, the staff was not rude: they just really didn't seem to give a rip if the guests were happy or not. I had reservations for second three night stay at the end of this month, but have cancelled and booked another hotel. I certainly did not experience Marriott service and would not...
Read moreBeen here 5 times and stayed for over 2 months total, by far the one major gripe is the completely unacceptable internet speed. There is a hard cap of 20 Megabits per second down and up (NOT MegaBYTES) which is dog slow in 2025. I get much better Wi-Fi (in the hundreds) in Dallas Fort Worth Airport, so don't make an excuse about public Wi-Fi being slow. There is also no option to hardwire your computer in your room, so you are stuck with the garbage Wi-Fi. At times the Wi-Fi will drop down to around 3 to 5 Megabits per second, which makes loading webpages a chore. Do better.
Recently, there was a big change for the regular rooms, they added fridges! I must give credit where due. Also, looks like they just added body wash and shampoo dispensers in the shower, good move!
My question is, why not add a hand soap dispenser for the sink, instead of the ridiculous wooden thing on the sinks? When I put my bar of soap there for washing my hands, it ends up cementing itself to the wooden thing and making an absolute mess on the sink. I'm sure housekeeping would be more efficient if they did not have scrape soap off of the sink and the wooden thing. Seems like a VERY simple fix to me.
Final gripes- Microwaves are in the lobby, each floor should have at least one (or individual rooms-like you get with the "nice" rooms, not allowed to Postal). The chair at the desk in the room is one of the most uncomfortable chairs I have ever sat in, can't sit at the desk and get any real work done. No water machine in the entire building. The ONLY spot to get water (especially in the middle of the night) is at the fitness center water fountain. All the other buildings have at least one water machine, at least put ONE in the lobby. The bedding is still very uncomfortable, the pillows are so flat that they hurt my neck (there was a post from the "owner" that said the bedding was changed out- it has NOT been fully done) There is mold all over the facility, you don't need to look hard to start finding it.
Finally, the price of the food is so outrageous that it drives business away from the food court. Nearly 30 dollars for a lackluster dinner is just plain unacceptable.
You want my business for the food? Make the prices reasonable for the quality of food served. Currently, I do not give them a single cent, I go out and buy all my own food.
There is a lot of room for improvement here. Simple fixes could really go a long way. Also, cutting out the pettiness...
