Edit: I thought it best to just give a Pros and Cons list!
PROS: Great location (to campus, to transportation facilities, to eateries etc) - convenient for 1st yr students; especially the fun social activities the complex hosts. Campus shuttle service (sometimes they don't come so prep accordingly) Affordable housing: you'd love it if you get a great roomie) Gated: It's not always the best but for the price it is quite impressive. Free Parking spots. Mail: Amazon Hub and Designated mail boxes. If you live on the 1st floor "sometimes" your package will get delivered to your door step. The annoying thing is, some of the mailmen don't want to do that extra work of looking for the apartment n#s so they return packages which can be frustrating. Best practice: Deliver large mails to the front office not your apt #; it will be signed by the front office and be secured till you pick it up. Socialize! Meadows has a lot of international students from all over the globe, you will learn so much and get to try foods from all over the world if you make friends. I still stand by my compliments to Jack. 5 stars specifically because of the Maintenance Team. The supervisor, Jack and his team are such amazing people! They're very professional and super friendly. Jack will always make time for you if you reach out. My car had a flat and Jack didn’t hesitate to offer a helping hand (he didn’t have to, but he helped). He’s always around the complex making sure we are all okay and running safety checks on the compound. I had to leave this review because I haven’t received amazing customer service and genuine kindness in a long while!
CONS: ALL THE 1 STAR REVIEWS ARE TRUE (or close to the truth)... it is a pretty inexpensive living facility so i guess cheap comes with a price. The fire alarm goes off at the slightest trigger. Sometimes it is triggered without any cause. Front Desk Reps: I'd like to say they got a better staff team when i was leaving but my experience with some kid called Amina at the desk wasn't the greatest (check other reviews, she's been mentioned many times), i was told she left so maybe your stay with the reps will be ok. Also be patient with the staff, some of them are students like you and don't really know much. Pet poop everywhere (mostly in the grass) so watch where you step if you want to use the hammock or go for a picnic. Walls are thin, you can hear and smell everything. College kids love to party, be prepared for the noise at late and early hours. Laundry Facility isn't always the best; some break & some are dirty. Always sanitize a unit before using and be kind as to get your laundry out when done for someone else to use. Some areas are unsafe at night, like anywhere else try not to walk alone at questionable hours (pm/am). Thankfully the campus police always makes rounds to keep the community safe. Appliances & Facilities are not of great quality, they break easily- from the kitchen sink to the bathroom cabinets: thankfully Jack is always there to help (sometimes his knocking is a bit loud but its to make sure it can be heard😂, give him a break)... and he is a handyman, so like most dads he gets a bit dirty. From fixing door hinges and kitchen sinks to helping fix car tires, keeping the pavements safe and less slippery during snowy days and keeping the pool clean - he really does it all. I'm not exaggerating, i witnessed it everyday to and from work.
Here's my little advice; Make sure to have everything IN WRITING or ON VIDEO. From your convos with the staff to the apartment condition upon move in and move out. It will be your saving grace when management comes to you with wierd bills (you will always have proof and be on your merry way).
Overall 3/5 because it could be better but it is not at all that bad. Just dont rely too much on management and focus on enjoying your college life; make new friends, go to class & build a good network with your professors. Try the rec center and the...
Read moreOverall, an awful experience living here. I wish I would have considered more options prior to signing the lease; however, the convenience of being right on campus and being a gated community is what appealed to me. I had requested a furnished studio-efficiency apartment and had several emails from the director of leasing at the time confirming this, only to walk into my apartment on move-in day to no furniture at all. I then had to wait for maintenance to install the furniture, delaying my move-in process. If you have any issues for maintenance to address, expect for it to either go ignored or take quite awhile to be taken care of due to them being very understaffed, considering how many tenants reside there. I had only been living here for about a month when I woke up one morning to a pool of water on the floor from excess rain water that had leaked into my apartment. I immediately informed the emergency maintenance number; however, when I returned from class that same day, I saw a maintenance worker outside my apartment who I asked if the issue had been addressed, only for him to tell me he had not been informed of the issue at all, and I was told to “see if it happens again.” Well, it happened again multiple times, and the issue was never fully resolved. Supposedly there was a problem with the gutter drainage outside my apartment, which was causing the flooding; however, the flooding kept occurring and makes me question what kind of work was even done in the first place. The apartments were not newly renovated and somewhat outdated when I lived here, and the price of the rent does not reflect that at all, as you can find much cheaper, nicer apartments elsewhere. Expect to do a very thorough deep-cleaning if you do decide to live here, as my apartment was filthy on move-in day with excess mold in the toilet, filthy floors, and grease splatters in the kitchen from the previous tenant. I am now still waiting for my security deposit check after my lease has ended two months ago. I would highly recommend considering alternate options before signing...
Read moreThis was absolutely the worst experience of my life !!!!! I would not recommend moving here under any circumstances!!! I would prefer to live in the dorm compared to the tiny living area this apartment has to offer.
the management when I first moved in chealsea was awesome and very helpful after they restarted they brought in people who were extremely unfriendly and very rude. U have felt discriminated against on this property more than once. THEY TAKE FOREVER TO FIX ANYTHING. I put in a maintenance request when I first moved in about my refrigerator. I move out in two weeks and it’s still broken. Not to mention their maintenance guy Jack comes in without knocking does not clean up after himself and went in my refrigerator and I’ve machine WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS which were visibility dirty. Also $300 came up missing out of my apartment while I was gone and management said all they could do was complete a police report. Also they do not hold up to their word they always make it seem like you the one doing something room when your giving them your hard earned money. I payed all of July’s rent including fees on July 1st and now I am charged a extra $500 to my account that no one can explain. Also they sent me nasty emails about sending my account into collection two weeks before I was about to move over $500!!!! The same $500 that should have never been charged in the first place because I had literally just made a payment of 1350.
-please watch your money and your account take pictures every time you make a payment because they a horrible with communication and have awful customer service
-I would love to add how they never answer the phone even the emergency hotline number you have to leave a message on. My hit water was kit working for 3 days I had issues with my tinier not flushing but yet they still charged my account $300 two weeks before leaving the premises confused on why this is even possible.
overal exhausting and worst experience ...
