Out of every camp spot in this camp ground, I only dislike a few because they're in the open unlike the rest, receiving full blast from the sun making the trailer an oven. Most camp spots are secluded in the trees, and or have dirt banks to divide the camp spots which is why I like this campground so much. It's very nice and its a lot better than horsfall campground because it's not just a concrete slab that you're forced to squeeze all of your rigs in. There is usually a lot of room in most of the camp spots, plenty enough for 4 quads and 2 dirt bikes and sometimes even a rail or side by side. Staying here is cheep and well worth your money. Reservations fill fast, so you have to book months in advance, especially if you're staying a week or longer, you might want to book half a year to a year in advance to get the spot you want. This place is wonderful and I go here every summer for a week with my family ever since it opened, and I've only been back to horsfall once, ONLY because there weren't any spots left at Riley. Also they are building a new D loop, which will open up more camping. Some other things to take note of is their little lake. I'm not sure if there's fish in it or not. Riley has public showers and toilets and usually it's pretty clean. Also Riley has full hook ups, minus sewer. So if you stay more than a week like us, you have to hook up and dump at Tugman. It's an inconvenience but it's worth it for such a great...
Β Β Β Read moreBeware of the CAMP HOST LOOP D. We just returned from our week long stay Aug 3-Aug 10. We have been staying at Riley Ranch for over 12+ years. We usually have a memorable, enjoyable experience. This year we were picked on by the camp host in Loop D. First it was for loud music at 2pm, which the music was not loud. It was actually being played inside of a trailer. I got told to drive the correct way when entering the loop and to go slow when returning from town. We did go the correct way upon exiting the loop and were going the correct speed as well. When we mentioned this, the host saidβ¦. Well maybe it was a different grey truck. Maybe he should verify he is speaking to the correct person before stopping them. Then a day before we were leaving he stopped another person in our group, telling him the same thing, to which he respondedβ¦. I was going the correct direction and speed. The host then said Iβm glad you are leaving tomorrow. This was totally unacceptable. Our group was respectful of quiet time and we are also 50+ year olds with no young kids or yapping dogsβ¦ so, we are not sure what his issue was. We will be seeking an alternative place to stay next year and will also make sure our friends who frequent your camp are aware of our experience. For the price, and no showers/bathrooms in D loop, we should have no problem finding a...
Β Β Β Read moreRiley Ranch is a beautiful park. The issues at Riley are the Park Hosts are expected to enforce park rules which is NOT a hosts job but that of the Ranges and Sheriff. All of the hosts were expected to enforce the rules however they did not always get the support or backup from the county. Case in point the new D loop host was TOLD to enforce. He was just doing what the park expected so the blame is NOT the fault of the hosts but of the rangers and park manager and board. You cannot ask people do do a job and then turn your back on them and let them take the blame for it. The county got our report of the problems we saw in many areas. Camp Hosted two seasons and loved our guests we interacted with but we felt stressed and overwhelmed because we were many times covering extra loops due to missing hosts on the loop. The Rangers and caretakers are good people who donβt get the support from the board or commissioner. Riley could be the jewel of Coos County Parks if they valued and supported the hosts and county staff. Lucky for us we have moved on to an agency that RESPECTS , VALUES AND SUPPORTS their volunteers. So please understand the HOSTS are VOLUNTEERS. We are doing what the staff asks us to do so if you have a complaint about Riley Ranch please direct it to the Park and Recreation Manager, Park Board and the Coos County...
