For most people, YSSC is merely an experience. For most people, YSSC is where they get to catch up with their old friends, maybe learn a couple of new skills. But for me, within these five stars lies two weeks full of personal growth that impacts my entire life. Without YSSC, I wouldn't be as confident as I am today. The staff there have taught me so, so much about myself and about God. They were there for me when I was at my lowest, comforting me and praying for me. At YSSC, I learnt how to step out of my comfort zone, to have some fun. I mean, that's what I came for, right? On top of that, everyone in my cabin were extremely welcoming, making me feel at home right away. No matter if we were laughing or crying, we were doing it together. At this camp, I can let go of everything happening in the real world, all the stress and worry, and just be myself. As soon as I step into camp, it's like I'm finally breathing again, after holding my breath for a year. Everyone there is a family, and as one of the only Asian campers there, I did not feel out of place at all. Can't wait to be...
Read moreYosemite Sierra Summer Camp holds a special place in my heart. I've had the privilege of experiencing YSSC from every angle—as a camper, staff member, parent, and guest speaker—and each role has deepened my appreciation for this incredible camp. There truly is no other place like it.
What sets YSSC apart is the unwavering dedication of the staff. They don’t just supervise—they genuinely care for each camper, partnering with parents to foster not only a memorable camp experience but also meaningful personal growth during these formative years. The lessons learned and friendships made here are truly life-changing.
I am profoundly grateful for the positive impact YSSC has had on my life and my children’s lives. If you’re looking for a camp that nurtures, challenges, and inspires, (and is just plain fun!) look no further. I cannot recommend YSSC highly enough—it’s an experience that stays with...
Read moreMy daughters attended the 2 week camp during a recent summer. This camp met half of my family’s expectations. Half of the expectations at a high cost. One kiddo had a good time, the other child cried herself to sleep every night of camp. That’s unfortunate beyond comprehension. Upon asking for additional assistance when one child’s emotional needs weren’t met, I was met with empty promises. Had my daughter’s counselor been more concerned with her cabin girls than her camp social life or counselor boyfriend, my daughter’s emotional needs & security might have been met. My kid got bunked with the “Mean Girls”…. aka SoCal diva tweens who didn’t exhibit Christian values & faked inclusion. The counselor’s priorities were lacking and my daughter suffered. 4 stars from one child, 2 stars...
