Lazy Bear Lodge At Deep Creek Lake — Hotel in Oakland

We were lucky to find this fabulous home-away- home 10 years ago and have returned every year since 2009! This is literally our 10th review of this property. There are a few things that you need to be aware of: THIS home and THIS owner set the bar extremely high for any other rental you will ever compare it to. The home itself is warm, accommodating and beautifully decorated. The outdoor space is our go to place where we enjoy the fire and fun each and every evening. The game room offers entertainment for young and old alike. The bedrooms are cozy and comfortable and the main living area easily accommodates many house guests with laughter and comfort. There is never a thing you would need that is not provided in the equipped beautiful kitchen. The owner is one of a kind - her constant attention to making your visit to her home memorable and enjoyable never fails to impress. She went out of her way to mark our 10-year anniversary with a very thoughtful and generous gift enjoyed by all. We enjoy golfing, the Wisp and shopping every year we come down. We love Deep Creek - it is our yearly fall retreat. We would not consider going anywhere but Lazy Bear Lodge. Here is to another 10 years of getting away and loving every minute...

My husband and I stayed here with our best friends for Valentine's weekend. Such an amazing home and time! So cozy and very accommodating. You will not be disappointed in the least bit if you stay here! The home has 5 beautiful bedrooms and plenty of cots, sofas, and futons to sleep additional people if needed. Loved the pool table, air hockey table, dart board, and hot tub. Stocked with many board games and activities for both kids and adults. There is a great sledding hill (sleds provided)...even us adults enjoyed it 😉 You don't need to even leave the cabin to have a great time. We did try to find snow mobile or ATV rentals in the area but to our sad surprise we were unsuccessful, so the only possible thing the owners could add to top this home off would be some snow mobiles hahaha (i'm sure there's too much liability involved though). Everything you need is provided in the home (except food). Due to COVID we had to bring our own linens and such but completely understandable! The owners have taken impeccable care of this home have taken the time to decorate it beautifully and truly know how to offer renters a great experience and are great to work with. We highly suggest staying at Lazy Bear and cannot wait...

Our family chose Lazy Bear Lodge to spend our Thanksgiving week in. We had never rented a place for all 12 of us before, and were unsure of what to expect. Lazy Bear Lodge is absolutely magical! Every one of us from aged 75 to aged 3 had a blast! We totally over-packed. Our hosts had thought of everything and we wanted for nothing. From coffee to spices to games and toys; ample sleeping arrangements, cleaning items and a washer and dryer. It was the details that made us feel so at home. The cookware was excellent, too! The biggest excitement were the sleds provided, the air hockey and pool table, the Xbox, the hot tub and the fireplaces. I also loved the Sonos music system, it got us all dancing! We had our Thanksgiving dinner at Penn Alps, a gorgeous historic restaurant listed in the suggested activities and restaurants Alayne provided. We hiked Swallow Falls and Deep Creek Lake State Park and both were stunning. The Lazy Bear Lodge was not only idyllic but also convenient to many activities and dining options.
