Run!! This place is beyond gross and they seem to use every opportunity possible to overcharge. We stayed overnight September 2016, just one night - to be exact 22 hours they charged just under $400.00. We were rented a cabin that "sleeps 8", but when we checked in with 7 people and were charged an additional $10.00 plus tax per person for each person over 4. Why did they not tell us this before? They charge more money for the larger cabin that sleeps 8 then charge again for those 3 people to stay. We were told to tell them what was wrong with the cabin because if we don't tell them immediately they will charge us for damage. We spent the first 40 minutes just trying to write down the big things wrong with the place. When I told the lady what we had found- and showed her the photos she showed a photo on my phone of 6 broken tiles in the main room floor with 2 different colors of duct tape all over them to another girl and said "are we sure this was there?" Really?? We did that damage in the first 40 minutes we were there. They charge $20.00 for the key then when I returned it they charged me an additional $20.00 but they were caught and did refund me that 20.00. When u make a reservation they charge you to float on the river $80.00+ whether or not you float and if you don't float they get the money for absolutely nothing. So we thought we would kayak. We were told we could float 6 miles or 12 miles, she then asked what time we would arrive I told her 11am-noon as we were driving 3 hours and meeting our family who were driving 4 1/2 hours. When we get there we were told we couldn't kayak the 12 miles we could only do 6 miles because we would have had to get there by 9:30 am. Had we have known we would have left earlier, but we were never told. I wish I could upload my pics, but I did put some on trip advisor. There was a window (clear window NOT privacy Windows)directly over the toilet, like the bottom of the window touched the toilet tank cover. There blinds were broken leaving direct sight at around 5 ft into the bathroom from the outside. sitting on the toilet a group of people walked by and I heard them talking about looking in and someone being on the toilet. The walls were extremely thin. One "bedroom" was actually 6 ft of pressboard with 3 -4 2X 4's spaced a few feet apart at the top as a half wall. There was a set of bunk beds someone attempted to make by hand that had no steps or rails and were extremely unsafe and unusable. I will just say repulsive about the beds and linens. Every possible thing that could be broken was, and everything was gross and dirty. The place had broken tile table top, something draining brown water like a sieve in the fridge, spiderwebs in every corner. The shower was so small I couldn't turn without accidentally turning off the water because my arm hit it and it was so short I had to squat to get my hair wet and I'm only 5'4". There was a broken wood from a door edging that was very sharp and dangerous. The cabinet under the kitchen sink had a large hole through the floor that gives rats, bugs and snakes a direct path to food in the kitchen. It was just very clear that they pack a body every place they can put one , it's not kept up or repaired, it's filthy, they charge for anything and everything they possibly can, and they overcharge. For syrup they charge $5.00 and for peanut butter $7.00. I know we were not the only ones in this situation- I over heard a woman complaining the pull out bed was broken she was told to sleep on the couch- she said the couch was sunk in and "disgusting". They lied and misled us, we had driven a long way and had teens with us who were very much looking forward to having a great time on the river. We were looking forward to spending time with family and making memories. They use these instances to take advantage of the situation, it feels very much like preying on others in a weakened situation. How disgusting!! Be on notice and keep your money for almost 400.00 a night go stay anywhere...

We went to Arrowhead three weeks ago with reservations for three campsites for two days. When we checked in we were provided our three campsite numbers and we could not find two of the campsites anywhere. We went up to the office twice who told us to just keep driving an we'd eventually get there. We found two of the employees who were out to help guide people to their campsites and they were clueless to where our spots were as well. After an hour of running around looking for them we were told that the spots no longer existed because they were flooded out. When we asked for new campsites they told us that they only had two available that were next to each other, and they gave us those. They did not refund us the third campsite and due to the lost time we had to put up our tents in the dark.
Fast forward to today, our parents from out of state visiting and we made the mistake of coming here again. We called in two weeks beforehand to have our campsite reserved but when we got to it there were cars surrounding and blocking off our firepit and campsite, so we went up front desk and they told us to just wait until they left. After pushing, they got us a new campsite in between two cabins. The new site was completely gravel, no dirt or grass. But it was fine because we had air mattresses and let it go. We set up our tent (the rocks broke and bent every stake we tried putting in the ground) and chairs around the fire pit and went on the float trip. When we came back the people in the cabin next to us were sitting in OUR chairs GLARING at us. When we went up to the front to let them know and they told us that the firepit was for the people in the cabin and we did not get one since our site had a grill, we pointed out our displeasure about them sitting in our chairs and they told us it was not their problem. By this point we were just done and wanted to leave, and did not want to continue being next to those people. We asked for a manager so we could get a refund and leave, but the manager had gone home so they brought in the owner. The came into the conversation very condescendingly and told us he would just get us a new campsite, and didn't see why we were upset because not every site is guaranteed a firepit. We told him we were just done with our experience and did not want to take down our tent just to set it back up AGAIN, and explained our past experiences we've had. He then told us he would get us our refund, but wanted us to know we were being "very unreasonable" because we really didn't "have anything to complain about" since we wouldn't take his offer for a new campsite. After telling him we really did not need the lecture and to just give us our money back he told us we were going to get the lecture anyway and there was "nothing we could do about it," and if we wanted he could call the park ranger too. At which point I'll admit we got flustered at him and told him to go ahead, we will wait for him but we did not want to hear him lecture us while we were waiting for the ranger. He did end up getting us our money back for the campsite (not including the deposit), and we were told to not come back. We gladly let him know they needn't...
Read moreI went to this camp early august 2014 and had an ok experience. So we planned another trip the first wknd of Sept 2014. There were 8 adults in our group. We rent a cabin called "The Hut" it says it sleeps 8 people....what a joke. It was tiny and no way we could have fit 8 people in there. The first night there were only myself and my boyfriend, so we stayed in the Hut, the next morning we decided to upgrade to larger cabin. The guy that helped us to upgrade was very helpful and friendly. So we paid the nightly rate for the larger cabin and moved our stuff out of the Hut and into the larger cabin. We were excited and started getting ready for our float. It was about 20 minutes to our float time and here comes the guy that upgraded us and says he is sorry but that cabin was already booked so we had to leave but they would help us find a suitable cabin for our group. We went to the office and the man said he would try to get us into 3 of the park trailers "camper trailers" for the same price as the larger cabin. which would have been fine with us. He went to the owner and the owner said yes you can do that but you have also pay for the Hut! We were appalled at his greedy behavior. We explained we had upgraded to the larger cabin and it was their fault they had double booked the room not ours so they should accommodate us as much as possible. The owner insisted that we had originally rented the hut so we needed to pay for it, although, when we upgraded to the other cabin we didn't pay for the Hut, it was only when there was a problem that they wanted us to pay for the hut as well as the 3 park trailers. I have never been disrespected by a business before like this. The owner would not talk to us, he stayed hidden in the back and sent out his nephew to talk with us (the guy that double booked the room). A woman decided to step in and add her opinion and got very rude with us, so we got a full refund and stayed at a hotel in Talequah instead. We went ahead and floated with this camp but only because we were there with Groupons for this specific camp. If we didnt have those vouchers we would have went to another site to float. We will float again, we really enjoy floating the IL river but will try out another camp in the area. Not a good business move when you have so much competition in the area. This place has awful customer service and does not value their customers. Please don't waste your time and money...
