What a way to detox from the busy life and just enjoy and breath in the fresh tropical air all around you! Off the beaten path for sure. Bring your snorkel gear, sense of adventure, and a good book (or whatever you do to relax). Manu'u Island is not the easiest to get to yet worth the trip!! Flights are currently Tuesday and Thursday morning from Pago Pago on a Viking 300 Twin Otter, so weight is limited. We bought our snorkel gear and a change of clothes. There are no restaurants on the island so this inn will cook you homemade meals (worth every penny). Amazing snorkeling just a 2 minute walk from the inn by the bridge, just be careful of the tide and current. Amazing tide pooling and looking for animals at low tide all around. The Inn is nice. Air conditioning in each room. Big showers. Comfy and clean beds. Can't tell you about the TV as we didn't even turn it on. Wifi available and good. Remember this is a remote island which relays on small ferry boats to bring supplies so prices reflect this. Well worth the trip. Wish we had more time to explore everything. You will need a few days and a sense of adventure here. Birding opportunities everywhere. Butterflies and other animals. Ofu beach is about 2 miles from the inn. We were there for 3 hours at high tide and saw only animals, no humans. Amazing snorkeling spot. Can't get a much better location then this. The Inn can be contacted on their Facebook page. They arranged a pick up and drop off for airport for us. Don't miss...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay with this lovely family, it's mostly good. The room is clean and confortable (just spiders), the location right by Olosega and the bridge is good, although it's "far" from the airport or the boat landing. As the family has no car, transport can be slightly an issue (I as not picked up as planned but hopefully a local I was on the boat with called a friend and I was dropped off; I wanted to do the hike to the top but the house is far from the beginning of the hike). The place would need some manpower, so I understand why it can't be perfect and I felt the family does everything it can. There was at the time no wifi in the room but it was possible to get it outside. I felt it was a bit overpriced. Compared to Vaoto lodge (just been in the common room) Asaga inn will give you a more family vibe (lovely dinner discussion) but I think it's overpriced (and strangely the access to the kitchen costs 45 dollars, so better not to cook and to share the meals). I would advise to come with some food (especially fruits), so you could save a bit and have fruits. Snorkelling is amazing, and the husband was kind to loan me for free his snorkeling gear. When paying, I had to pay X42 dollars and I have paid X50, but they only gave me back 7 instead of 8, which I didn't understand (it's just one dollar, but it's more for the principle). So overall, a good stay with people i'm glad I met, but expensive...
