Not a bad park, but beware of the pricing and amenities info listed on ReserveAmerica!
The initial cost on the site listing showed $30 per night. After selecting a site, the price “magically” jumped to $35 per night (no, this was not taxes and fees, they were on top of the $35). I have no idea why the extra $5 per night. So now two nights was up to $74. THEN, Nebraska State Parks adds on ANOTHER $12 per day- per vehicle!- for the privilege of entering a park that we’ve already paid $74 to enter. In fact, the kid staffing the gate actually wanted to charge us $12 per day for BOTH our RV AND our towed vehicle! Beyond ridiculous. So now we’re up to nearly $100 for two nights.
Next issue- the site specific description stated “Water = Y” for our site, which at every other park I’ve ever visited means a water hookup AT the site. Apparently here it means one water spigot at every 2nd or 3rd site to share with a neighbor…IF you have a splitter. AND enough hose to reach it. Very misleading.
Also- the site we chose online, Site 8, was nowhere near level- neither front to back nor side to side. Even with blocks and boards it would have been a challenge to even get close to level. The one good thing I can add is that the woman we called (the kid at the gate was of no use) was very kind and accommodating about the leveling issue and changed us to a much flatter site (Site 10) that worked fine.
Again, nothing really wrong with the park itself, but the online listing is very deceptive when it comes to pricing and amenities.
And honestly, at a “net” cost of $50 per night, I’d probably go elsewhere...
Read moreWe've been to the lake many times, but have never stayed at Cedar Vue campground. After this trip, I would have to say that we won't camp anywhere else.
Our camp host was Chuck. When we arrived, one of our sites was occupied, but by the time we had made it through the loop to go and talk with someone about it, he had already come to find us.
He had a plan to make things right, and after getting us settled, he made it a point to come by to help us feel at home.
While making his rounds, every trip around the site, he made it a point to stop and say hi, or just have a chat. His hospitality turned a good trip into an incredible trip.
He offered advice, help, and even some amazing natural bug spray that kept the pesky biting flies at bay, even when the commercial "good stuff" didn't help.
Chuck is an example of a good human that wants to make a difference in...
Read moreWe were traveling across the state and still several hours from home. Decided to do a tent camping layover here. I saw good reviews of the place, and claims of white sand beaches and I honestly was skeptical but decided we needed a place to stay so we picked this site based on decent google reviews.
I have to say the beaches were amazing!! The sand looks like Caribbean or Mexico beaches and the water is so clear and beautiful. The campground was clean and well kept. The host was helpful. It wasn’t super crowded (weds night). You can drive on the beach, and you can camp on the beach. I didn’t get to fish but there looks like good fishing there. The park visitors center has lots of cool displays and a tank of local fish, the kids really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this...
