Probably our worst coming experience in 20 years!! Immediately upon arriving I was concerned about some loud, rowdy guests and boy was I right!! There were multiple campers that were together spread around the campground. One of them were 4 sites down from us blasting their music. This went on all day to where we couldn't hear our own music or tv. Very disrespectful! They were also keeping their dogs off leash which is one of the campground rules. Our 5lb. doggy was lunged at by one of them! This meant that their dogs were free to potty wherever and at one point one of the large dogs pooped right next to our camper. We had to tell them to go pick it up because they were oblivious! At this point it was time to address all of this with the campground owner.... To our dismay she thought that the music was at an acceptable level!!! The entire front of the campground and probably some of the back could hear the music and this qualifies as acceptable??? It is our opinion that the noise coming from your RV should be heard by you and you alone. There's an etiquette that campers should follow and this was disrespectful of every other guest! Could you imagine if every site blasted tv/music? Anyhow, she finally agreed to ask them to turn down the music but later added that it was our responsibility to speak to them LOL - yeah that would have went over well! Never in our 20 years of camping have we had any other campground allow blasting music and not do something about it or suggest that we should?! The campground serves as the mediator and they are the ones to enforce the rules not the guests. At this point she is suggesting that WE leave!? Is this place for real? Apparently these guests are regulars which explains everything!!! She tells us to let her know if anything else arises. Therefore, we addressed the dog lunging at our dog unleashed and again suggests that we leave LOL - Ok so we follow the rules and we're the ones asked to leave? The next morning we go into the office and she accuses us of stealing firewood from the night before?! OMG WE NEVER LEFT OUR CAMPER & WE HAVE A GAS FIRE PIT!!! We don't even use firewood!!! Later she tells us it must of been another camper with a grey truck and her husband was mistaken. Are you kidding me?? That was because they were now out to get us for complaining so that being the last straw we decided to leave!! We were only there one night and had planned to stay 5 nights and our drive was 3.5 hours one way. Thanks to the owner our trip was now ruined and our weekend a huge bust! So in conclusion we do NOT recommend this place whatsoever!!! It's too bad because it's an OK campground with the exception that there seems to be a lot of residents... There is also no tv or WIFI and the water hookups are unique. We did not leave on the best terms but she did refund us in full which was more than...

Checked in about 10 minutes early with no issue. The Bear Cabin looks lovely from the exterior and has a small living area, a dining table for 4, a small kitchenette, 1 small bedroom with a double mattress and a decent sized bathroom. The Bear Cabin is an ADA Accessible cabin. There was food waste in the kitchen sink from a previous guest. This made me question the cleanliness of the cabin. We ended up washing all the dishes before using them to ensure they were clean. There is a futon in the living area with a very thick mattress that does not stay in place when in the seating position. The mattress slides down making the futon unpleasant to sit on. Maintenance was in the cabin for the TV remote later (it was missing) and when I asked about the futon he said that's how they are... Later I noticed the smoke detector was missing in the living room area and the smoke detector in the bedroom was dangling by it's wires...? The mattress on the double bed was very thick (from multiple mattress toppers) and sagged in the middle, creating a 'Mattress Canyon' that you slid into by morning. There is plenty of space in the bathroom for an elongated toilet but a round is installed. There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom making it necessary to open the window for air cirulation - which is great on a 90 degree day! I wiped down the small plastic shelf unit next to the sink (hair and spots of something on the top shelf). If you are considering a stay here, might I suggest bring along some...

We rented the lily pad cabin and I have to say it was well equipped with dishes, pans, all the utensils and bedding also towels. We had our own bathroom w/shower. It had A/C. It was very nice. It is in a ok location due to only you have to drive about half an hour to get to lake McConaughy and the beaches. If they had more easy access to the lake it would be a great spot. It’s quiet. It’s a nice place to get away to. Not a long drive for us only 2 1/2 hours maybe 3. This has been our 2nd visit. We stayed also in the smaller cabins on our first trip which is very basic. They include beds and A/C nothing else. Still very nice little cabins. There is a small general store with just about everything you could possibly need. A bit pricey but it’s what’s expected if you forget anything.

We camped here for 2 nights. It's early in the season so we were pretty much there with a few seasonal. Very clean, well kept. Lucas & Myranda were very friendly & helpful. We had a great time relaxing here. the 1.5 mile drive down the gravel road to the camp is a little adventurous but do-able. We're from Florida and don't have many hills so it was much different for us. They have all size cabins to rent which are awesome, clean & cozy! Bathhouse was very clean, hot showers. Great place & on site staff
