Lake Ogallala West Campground — Hotel in Ogallala

Not impressed in the least!!! Husband used to come as a kid with family but I'd say it's gone down hill maybe if u had a camper you would enjoy but with a tent it was horrible! We paid 2 nights for a site with electricity but the box didn't work!! And no DNR or anyone came around to ask for help! The bathrooms were riddled with bugs! I get it We're in nature, but I've never been somewhere Where they were this bad! Even the toilet paper was infested!! And Since everything is digital nowadays or free showers we didn't bring extra cash to buy tokens to shower 😒 so had to wash with the sink and buckets... We also chose this site thinking there was a playground because online It says there is but it's clearly not up to date! Do better...

It was real peaceful and quiet here but the one thing that makes me give this place a 1 star is the fact that as soon as you get to your campground there is nothing but stickers (little spikey balls) we had camp ground 1 through 2 reserved and they where both like that.and on top of that it had no shade? I didn't mind the shade part but all the stickers, there should of been a warning for our dogs. I'm sure not the whole campground is like this but they should definitely put a warning about this. My poor dog had so many stickers in her feet in a few mins just being out that she couldn't even walk. Real upset with how this wasn't announced or...

What a fantastic place to camp. Not sure what the sticker thing is that's in the other review. Lots of green grass to lay in. This place has a fantastic playground for kids. Has plenty of shade trees. Just make sure you look for your camping spot when reservations to see if it has trees for shade. The restrooms are Porta potty but they are very clean.
