My hubby and I decided to stay here due to no occupancy nearby where we could bring our pet. We thought the Gypsy Cabin would be a new adventure being we have never stayed here before. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you decide on one of the Gypsy Cabins know that you cannot drive up to your cabin. You must park on this side of the bridge. The cabins are pretty but the porch had rotten boards and I fell thru one side of them. I did not get hurt but was extra cautious henceforth. The first nite we had the entire area across the bridge to ourselves. It was peaceful. However, there are nothing but beds and mattresses in these cabins. No tables to put anything on. We slept on the full size bed and my back bothered me all nite long. Very uncomfortable however we decided to stay another nite due to the peacefulness and not having anywhere else to go with our fur baby. No running water at the cabin made it uncomfortable as the porta potty across the bridge had no water or hand washing station either. It was either the creek to wash up or tote your own water to the cabin. The showers near the main office has only 2 shower stalls. One is for the taller people and one for the short ones like me. There are no private changing stations in the bathroom as both showers are behind swinging doors but no privacy between the showers. Outside the shower is a bench to sit your things. I didnt like that part. Even tho the staff was very nice to us, we will not return here. It was a bit pricey for no amenities except electric in the cabin and the mattress was so uncomfortable. It was truly an adventure and a memory. This place could be more inviting if someone could take the time to do upkeep on...

Catawba Falls Campground is a hidden gem in the North Carolina mountains. The privately owned park welcomes all campers, rv's, tents, cabin rentals and there were even 2 hammock campers staying overnight while we were there. There's a lovely creek that runs through the property. Access to the creek looks a lot more difficult from the rv side of it, but it's a short walk to the tent side of the park and wading among the rocks and cool clear water. One drawback to camping on the tent side was that it was a bit of a walk to get from our parked car to our actual site. They gave us a free lift with our gear on golf carts though both when we got there and when we were leaving. Very friendly, family owned. Also real pet lovers. Bathhouses were very clean, nothing fancy though - did the job. The town of Old Fort is just a couple of miles away with a "Frisbee" grocery store. There's also a 24 hr McDonalds. Make sure you try Mr Bob's EXCELLENT doughnuts in Old Fort, small brick building practically in the grocery store parking lot. They are closed on Mondays tho.||Don't forget to check out Catawba Falls, a short drive to the park and a 3 mile r/t well shaded hike to the beautiful falls||We were in "River 3" or R3. It's probably the most private and we loved it. Sleeping to the sound of the creek was wonderful. Our 10' x 14' tent just fit. Also, I use TMobile and had excellent reception while...

I'm in love and even though we just returned yesterday I'm ready to go back! We came with a group of our close friends and felt right at home. The campsite is very family friendly and sits right on a beautiful Creek. The area is clean and the sites are well spaced. The cabins are unique and very space effecient considering how small they are. The gypsy cabin we rented had a queen sized bed and a bunk bed that flowed awesome together. There was heat, AC , lights and plug outlets in the gypsy if needed. Loved how homey the campsite was. The fire pits are very useful and can be cooked on with the attached grill plate that folds on top if chose to be done. The Catawba falls trail is right down the road , maybe a 5 minute walk. The trail is fairly easy unless you choose to climb beyond then it quite intense. There's ropes on the very steep areas to help but still trust your own body and judment as the earth is constantly shifting and may not hold the rope as secure in the future. I carried our ten month old daughter up the steep incline so it is possible but I do not recommend unless you are truly confident in carrying the weight and can react efficiently to the motions of a moving baby while climbing a steep incline. The view of the falls from the top was breath taking and Amazing , definitely worth it and we will be returning asap!
