Read moreThe below was sent to the front desk immediately following checkout on August 28. Still no response.
I must say I am very disappointed. I have stayed at your resort several times over the years and have always stayed at either Three Stories or Tall Tales. This is the first time I have stayed here with my husband. After telling him how wonderful my prior stays had been, we were so excited for our current stay, but have been extremely disappointed.
Upon our arrival to our room, we noticed the pull down front of our desk was broken off. As a result, I could not use the desk for my laptop/work. I later saw it in the basement. why was this not fixed/repaired before we took possession of our $500+ room? Also, we noticed there was no soap and only two towels in our bathroom. When I tried to call the front desk, we found the phone was inoperable. We had to call the front desk from our cell phone. Later the phone was fixed and towels were delivered. No apology or explanation. Also, I seem to recall there was fruit and packaged breakfast bars in the kitchen/dining area. Nothing was available, Also, the carpets in the common areas in Three Stories are very stained and in need of cleaning. Not what one would expect when staying at an "upscale" resort. When I wanted coffee at 7:30 a.m., there were no disposable paper/styrofoam or ceramic coffee cups to be found and there was no creamer. Only at 8:50 a.m. while I was sitting downstairs in the living room area because the wifi was so very weak in my room did I see an attendant arrive to fill the creamers. He still did not leave disposable cups. Unacceptable.
Also, I went to sit on our front balcony to enjoy the beautiful view. There were so many dead spiders and bugs it was disgusting. It only takes a few minutes for someone to hose it down or take a broom to the rafters. And, when we went to the back deck which I on prior stays enjoyed, there was a sign on the firepit stating it was inoperable and all the chairs were strewn about. I had to place the seats to the chairs in myself for them to be usable. There were also cheap, plastic white chairs and not enough seat cushions for the wicker seating. Not very inviting and, again, not what I had previously experienced and not an inviting place to sit.
With the above stated, one should not tout themselves as an upscale resort and charge over $500 a night for a "luxury" room if very little "luxury" is provided. While I understand there may be staffing issues due to COVID, you should not charge the same amount for a "luxury room" experience and not deliver. It is my hope you find the above comments instructive and take some action. It is unfortunate your resort, which I previously loved and thought of as a "hidden gem" has fallen short of expectation and is now lacking in personal...
Read moreOur recent corporate retreat at the Saybrook Point Resort and Marina was, without exaggeration, a resounding success, and a significant part of that is thanks to the exceptional Meeting Planner, Samantha Barney. From the initial planning stages right through to the final farewells, Samantha was absolutely perfect. Every single detail of our meeting was executed flawlessly, and our team and clients felt incredibly well-cared for every step of the way. The menus were thoughtfully curated and delicious, the event setups were beautiful and precisely as envisioned, and the guest rooms were not only perfect but also beautifully appointed. What truly set this experience apart was the proactive and anticipatory service. Every need, even those we hadn't yet voiced, was met with a smile and seamless efficiency. The thoughtful touches were evident throughout, demonstrating a genuine commitment to our event's success. In my years of event planning, I have never encountered a planner or hotel staff more dedicated to ensuring everything ran smoothly. I had complete trust in Samantha, and Catering Manager Melanie Bedard – I never once felt the need to double-check a BEO or worry about timing or room setups. Everything was exactly as requested, and even a last-minute guest addition was handled with grace and zero hassle. The entire staff, from the welcoming front desk and helpful bellmen to the attentive housekeepers, talented chefs, gracious waitstaff, and even the spa team, made us feel like valued guests. They were all aware of our event, offered assistance, and consistently thanked us for our presence. Finally, I must rave about the Three Stories Guesthouse experience that comes with Butler service. This unique offering truly elevated the fellowship and entertainment aspects of our retreat to an entirely new level. Gerard La Rose, welcomed every member of our party whether they were guests of the house or not and made each one welcome. Any corporate group with under 100 attendees would be doing themselves a disservice by not considering the Saybrook Point Resort and Marina for their next retreat or conference. The combination of a stunning venue and the unparalleled service, especially from Samantha Barney, guarantees an exceptional and stress-free event. We and our incredibly happy client cannot recommend them...
