We stayed in a pet-friendly cabin this winter, and our visit was wonderful! The cabin had a weird amount of houseflies, so I took a star off for that and the heater more details below. Some tips for your stay:
They give a list of suggested items to bring (like paper towels, extra dish soap, etc.) and I’d definitely recommending bringing all those items. It’s a great list PLUS some ear plugs if you’re even a remotely light sleeper. The AC/heating unit is extremely loud! I woke up every time it kicked on through the cold nights, which wasn’t a fun experience, but it’s such a peaceful and beautiful place… my mood was balanced by that lol. The loft is a blank canvas. Bring camping pads or a blowup mattress if anyone is hanging out up there. We did camping pads and sleeping bags, but the heat from the heater made it pretty warm up there. You’d be better off with a bringing a light blanket. (They give you one small blanket and some extra sheets. I’d pack your own blankets.) It’s really nice that the cabin offers kitchen items, but if you’re a germaphobe - plan time to wash everything prior to use. It’s all hand washed by the previous visitor and I just don’t trust that haha. Or just bring disposable cutlery, foil pans, etc.
It was a wonderful time with my family! We will be back again, for sure (with...
Read moreWe stayed here right after PCSing while waiting for our HHG to arrive and I couldn’t have made a better choice. The lodge was a little run down, but it was clean and comfortable and quite honestly, that’s all I ask for. We were able to cook instead of eat out constantly which was nice after moving across the country and eating out a lot. We have 2 dogs and being here with them was so much easier than being in a hotel. We were maybe a 1 minute walk from the beach and my daughter wanted to spent all day out there. I also forgot to mention she has loved sleeping in the loft area. The whole lodge has been perfect for our little family. It’s been so quiet the whole time we’ve been here and even now while I type this, I can hear the ocean and it’s awesome. It’s very remote out here with only the mini mart close by, but the commissary and food stuff on base is only 15 minutes away. If you’re looking for a beach vacation with no frills, this is it! I am already looking for an excuse to come stay here with friends. We will definitely be staying here again when we PCS. I would highly recommend staying here for any occasion. For what they offer, you...
Read moreYou have to have some type of military affiliation to stay here. It is right across a quiet road from the beach. There are about 40 rv sites with full hookups. There are also bathrooms with showers and a laundry. Down the beach about a half mile is an area without hookups, but still has a bathroom. In addition, they have a few dozen cabins, the size and condition depends on how old they are, and there are a few that are rank dependent. There are several beachfront bath houses located along the shoreline. Next to the registration building, there is a small MCX outlet with basic needs. The mainside Commissary and PX are about 6 miles away. You will also find gas and fast food there as well. Parking is plentiful, but it gets scarce in the high season because it's a big base and is utilized by the many active duty and retired folks. During the off season it is always deserted, and you have...
