Quite, Amazing little hidden gem, perfect family / fishing Campground / Snowbird stop, Right on the bay.
Rivers Edge is by far the best campground my wife and I have found along our journey and we were just lucky enough to book for the year. We've been traveling from Pennsylvania to find our new home away from the PA Winter and Rivers Edge has meet every one of our needs. The owners Ed and Maria have literally been the nicest people we have had the pleasure to meet since we left PA. Ed being Ed (the best host you can ask for) introduced my wife and myself to everyone we meet from day one and Maria is an absolute sweetheart. We couldn't feel more welcome, Thank you Ed and Maria. As for the campground, it's absolutely beautiful and they do an amazing job with updating. The lots are generously spaced, have a Concrete pad, picnic table, level lot and your Not stuck in the trees like other spots. They keep up with bug care, lawn maintenance and have trash bins a short walk away. I do have to mention again that you are literally right on the bay. There's a boat ramp, boat storage, great fishing /crabing right off the dock, laundry facility in a nice little reading room/dvd/tv area and a Beautiful pavilion with community firepit for a nightly get together. I think they might also have a campground get together/pot luck for holidays and starting a movie night with a 100" projector and popcorn. The guest's themselves are as nice as the owners. We're a younger couple mid 40's (probably the youngest) but don't feel any sorts out of place. We've been welcomed from all day one. I can honestly go on and on but I'll stop here... If you're traveling and looking for a spot to call home for a day, night, month, year, don't let this one slip through you're fingers... My wife and I can't say enough about the kindness and generosity we have had the privilege to receive from this community.
Sincerely Brian and...
Read moreIt appeared this campground accommodates mostly long-term campers. Sites are close together, and water-front sites (7 sites, I think) are reserved for long-term campers only, which we thought odd. Why reserve such beautiful sites to long-term campers and deny that view to a higher turn-over of short-term campers. There is no view of the water from the sites offered to short-term visitors.
It was very quiet, and the host was accommodating. There was a firepit by the water, and the host built us a fire to enjoy. However, we probably won't return for several reasons: Sites are tight and the hook-ups are at the rear of the sites making hook-up difficult. The host loaned us a sewer hose section so we could reach the connection, but we had to join several hoses together to reach the spigot. Friends we were camping with told us a man came knocking on their door after dark looking for "Meg". It made our friends very uncomfortable as the campground is dark after the sun goes down. The morning we were packing up to leave, the smell of skunk weed was strong! Given this is a "family" campground (it's in the name!), perhaps there should be a smoking restriction... the campground could be "smoke-free", which would make it possible to eliminate this as a problem. The smell of skunky marijuana (a smell that makes me nauseous) permeated the air while we were hooking up our camper and made us miserable. Clearly, given the close proximity of the campers, you can't smoke weed and think the smell stays contained within your camper - It does not.
I think the campground owners' intentions are good without realizing they could make improvements to increase...
Read moreMy book about how wonderful this place is. The first time we came we were a bit worried as we drove through town, it was our first time to the coast of NC. We have stayed at so many campgrounds across the US, usually a ‘name brand’ and a Good Sam. I found this place on Google. Yes, it is a bit small BUT YALL!! It is so awesome! After the first weekend, I had to come back! We discussed with the owners about leaving our fifth-wheel 40’ camper at the same spot so we could return in a few weeks. The couple who own the park are so easy to converse with, not ‘up-tight’. They allow long stays and well behaved animals. The evening is quiet hour and I mean SILENT! I slept so well. The campground is very well maintained. The power is reliable and safe. The water hookups are perfect. They have cable but the antenna picks up many channels. Tent camping is safe here. Everyone is friendly; so if you aren’t, it isn’t for you. We brought our boat out and the water is great and fish do bite here! They have a launch and dock with a fishing/swimming pier. Low rates because they don’t have the frilly name and other not-so-necessary things. They are adding some things but it won’t take away from the peacefulness. I am going to keep coming back! This is a...
