Alright, this is going to be lengthy.
We were recommended this resort through our wedding venue "Reflections at Buttes" on oracle Rd, because they worked with Westward look for Wedding Blocks at a great cost.
From the moment we got into contact with Westward look, My Now Husband and I's experience with these people have been way less than Stellar. We were transferred between 3 people over email to manage our wedding block and whenever I sent any questions, it was silence for days on end. No one has told us that we were sending emails to a dead email because the person originally handling our block no longer worked at the resort. My guests and us have tried to call and talk to these people about booking rooms and asking questions, only to be told their office hours were from some point in the morning to 3pm. We've called various times in between the times they provided us and they were STILL not in office ironically. This was over the course of months between us and our guests. We had to go in person to talk to someone before our cutoff date because no one would answer the emails or calls. The only person who seemed to know what was going on, was Barbra. I think she is a general manager of the resort, probably was the most helpful in this time of stress and was the one to finally get us some sort of answers. She was also very nice compared to everyone else we had contact with. Thank gosh for my Now Husband for keeping me in check when we went in person because my patience with them was almost non-existent since our wedding was less than a month out when we had to go in person. He's the more level headed when talking to others who have left us in the dark. Dealing with this resort had been the biggest stressor throughout our entire wedding planning process because we had many of our guests complain to us that they couldn't get into contact with the resort to book their rooms for our wedding. We had issues with the front desk with some of our guests who wanted to check in because they wanted to relax a little bit before the wedding began. These are the same people I have booked these rooms for via email and have provided contact Info for and the names of the people who would be checking in under those rooms since they were rooming together with the bridal party members since they were family. They refused to let the family members check in and they had to leave to wait until the wedding was over for my bridesmaids to show up so they can check their family in. It was overall a shit show on the resorts end, since I had told them the names of the people checking in were on the main list. After everyone was checked in, we had many reports of our guests having rude experiences with the front desk, bad customer service from everyone they came into contact with. When my husband finally went to the front desk and told them that he was the main cardholder of the hotel block, they changed their attitude. When we think of a room block, I'd assume that we would all be staying in the same building or two buildings next to each other. Everyone was placed randomly and it was completely disorganized, it was really disappointing since we all wanted to try and talk to each other before we went to our rooms for the night but couldn't since we were so far apart. It was ludicrous. Even the other half of the family was placed all the way across the damned resort next to the handicapped, completely away from everyone else. We all had various issues with our rooms when we stayed there. The handicapped room: the bed was too high for my grandfather to get up in and hand to get help to get into. The restroom was some how LOWER than the normal toilets in regular rooms and he needed to call for help. We had a situation where one of our doors just popped open despite being locked, luckily by one of our guests and not a stranger. But still a dangerous situation. Cleanliness was an issue, and multiple malfunctions.
Overall do not recommend for a wedding. We had others but I have exceeded the limit. The only positive was the...
Read moreMy husband splurged for our 21st anniversary and booked us the Stargazer Room, which has its own hot tub on a "private" patio. With taxes and fees included, the room came to over $600 for 2 nights, so to be honest, we expected it to be amazing. I researched the hotel's website and social media, & found nothing about how the hotel was affected by the pandemic. Upon arriving & checking in, it was clear that the hotel was not transparent at all about its status. The Pros: The room was clean and extremely spacious. The grounds are beautiful. There's even a walking labyrinth that made a spiritual person like me very happy. The staff is very kind and courteous. The food is decent. Breakfast is better than dinner. The view from the rooftop space is breathtaking. The Cons: The website boasts several dining avenues: The Gold restaurant, the Lookout Bar & Grill, Monsoon Cafe, Oasis Pool Bar & Grill, & room service. This is highly misleading. There is 1 menu for the entire place. Breakfast is at Gold. Lunch has to be ordered from the Oasis, and dinner is at the Lookout, but it is a very limited menu and very pricey. The Monsoon Cafe serves coffee only & is only open for breakfast, & the website & social media (Facebook page) boast "fresh pastries" which do not exist. So, you have 1 menu for the whole resort, it's just served at different places throughout the day. Room service is only available from 7am-11am & then 5pm-9pm, which on their website states on Saturdays it is available all day. Not the case for us. For lunch you have to go to the pool to get food or leave the resort (what we chose to do). Their website is VERY misleading, and if it's limited due to the pandemic, they should update something to reflect that. The room we got boasts a hot tub on a private patio. They don't tell you that there are rooms above you (with a balcony that overlooks onto your "private" patio) and rooms beside you, too. We asked when we checked in if the hotel was heavily booked, and they replied no, but we had people staying in rooms all around us. I was surprised to hear, through the walls, our neighbors above us having a morning love session to start their day. So, if you think you are paying $300 a night for a room with a hot tub and the privacy you would expect from a $300 a night room with a hot tub, you are absolutely mistaken. Housekeeping did not visit all weekend, so our room service dishes just piled up. When we got to the room, we were excited to try out the hot tub. The temperature was so hot that we could only spend 5 minutes in it. The next morning we called the front desk and they sent someone from housekeeping to take a look. She was very nice, but not maintenance, which she said they should have sent. Come to find out, the boiler was set to 106 degrees- hot tubs should be about 100 degrees or slightly less. She reset the boiler to the least possible temperature, which made it freezing cold for us that night. I had to adjust the boiler myself to get it to be enjoyable. There are zero special additions in the rooms. Most resorts we have stayed at have complimentary bottles of water in the rooms, and if we spend a little more (nowhere near $300 a night, though), we've even had chocolate or cookies waiting for us in the room. $300 a night gets you nothing- not even bottles of water. Which leads me into... The gift shop is closed due to the pandemic. So, there are zero places on the premises to get things like bottles of water, sunscreen (I forgot to pack some), snacks, etc. Neither the website or social media mentions this. Absolutely no airflow in the room at all. We had to ask for a fan at the front desk. Overall, with food included, we spent about $1000 on our anniversary weekend here, and what we received was drastically under that in value. I am very disappointed in the lack of transparency with this hotel in letting people know just how different things are because of...
Read moreI booked this resort to have a nice little getaway to relax and enjoy the Arizona sun. Clearly do not stay at this hotel if you’re wanting any type of five star service and do not come here even at the end of February as apparently it’s still their “off-season” as the wonderful sunset yoga offered is not an option as the yoga instructor takes off for the winter? Being from Iowa coming here to stay in the warm Arizona sun there was no pool side service as again. It must be the “off-season” or it could be the constant reminder I was told that they had a big conference going on and clearly the conference guests took top priority. I tried to be patient smile and just go along with things wanted to get a table for one at their only restaurant Palm but was told by the attendant at the front desk sure just go over and you can get a table, but that was not the case as there was NO hostess where the sign said to “please check in at the hostess station” and I was told by a busy waiter rushing around I needed to make a reservation on OpenTable? Then was told I could sit at the bar and wait until a maybe table was open but to get a reservation you had to use open table which seems absurd as there were about 10 tables free with no one sitting but was told “they were reserved”and I said is there another place I could sit to wait as I’m not comfortable sitting at the bar with random strangers and they said no to sit there so that they wouldn’t forget about me? I decided just to go back to get room service. I called three times it went to voicemail. Then there was no signal on my television and that was the case most of the time especially in the morning my stay . Finally got a hold of room service and the food was very good. I will say, but then I woke up the next morning, pulled back my sheets to find horrible purple stains all over the right side of the bed. I sleep on the left side of the bed, but decided since I wasn’t traveling with my husband I would just sleep in the middle. I was absolutely mortified. They had clearly been washed, hopefully but put back on so there’s no reason that should’ve happened. I then also went to book the sunset, horseback trail ride which they have a framed brochure of at the front desk. Yet the woman behind the desk was absolutely no help looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked if there was a shuttle to The event and she told me I could just walk there, but it’s not on property. Not sure why that they would partner with someone and offer it if they don’t have a whole lot of information as it says, you need to pay with Zelle and I was not familiar with Zelle and the woman look like I was from a different planet just a little smile and maybe saying she could help me out or there was something else I could use to pay, but no, she just looked at me like I was an idiot and of course, then I felt like an idiot so here I came to relax enjoy myself and I felt like I was putting out the staff the entire time asking them to do something nice for me seem like Unheard of. I do not like snobby people therefore I don’t try to act snobby and I always have a smile on my face and I expected the same. Do not come here ever. Do not bring a family. Do not bring yourself if you’re wanting just a relaxing getaway especially don’t come in February the warm months of Arizona because apparently it’s their off-season. I’m not sure how many people sit by the pool in the summer when it’s 120 but apparently that’s the only time that this resort functions on “normal basis“” The actual rooms other than the sheets were beautiful and clean, and the views are absolutely beautiful. The main issue is their service. It’s extremely slow and no one really seems like they want to actually work. There were a few people that were kind and for those I truly thank them but other than that, this resort has MUCH...
