My mother, my husband, and I were in town for a few days to attend my dad's funeral. We had family we could stay with, but they were farther than the Brookshire. We decided that the exterior seemed decent, and the rates were affordable so we booked. There were smoking and non-smoking rooms, so us smokers felt welcome too. Upon entering the hotel, we immediately knew we had made the right decision. The interior was gorgeous, and the rooms were pretty modern. Everything seemed fairly clean, and we felt safe. The hotel staff were phenomenal, and so friendly. We enjoyed having some friendly faces amongst such troubling times. They even extended our checkout time by a couple hours for no extra charge, because they knew we had been at the visitation all night and needed a few more hours to prepare for the funeral. The one qualm that we had was the water temperature. When we tried to shower, the water wouldn't get hot. We allowed it to run for several minutes (about 5), thinking that maybe it would heat up, to no avail. The temperature reminded me of the warmth of a newborn's bottle, or what it should be. My husband showered first, and his shower was cut short after about 5 minutes as it got ice cold. My mother and I were unable to shower because it took quite some time for it to heat up, and we were in a time restraint. We asked our cousins, who had a room down the hall, if their water was hot. It was not, so the temperature wasn't just off in our room. When we brought it up to the desk clerk, she was very apologetic and stated she would contact management for us. Overall, this is a good place if you're looking for a quick, clean, and safe stay. I wouldn't recommend it for longer than a day or two, being as you can't shower, unless you enjoy...
Read moreMy family came in from out of town for the festival in Martin County, and the place was very friendly! We were welcomed with open arms as soon as we entered. It was a very well cleaned Inn. The only thing that I didn't like was that there was some wallpaper peeling and some water stains on the ceiling from a water leak they previously had along with seeing some cracks in some places but honestly it didn't really bother me that much but I think a nice remodel or a fixing of some minor things will make it so much better and presentable! When I woke up and left my room the following morning for breakfast, I was nicely presented with a "Good Morning" from an employee, which felt really nice. The breakfast was small but wonderful, so I have nothing to say about that, but if you don't want the hotels breakfast, there is literally a gas station right next door. Overall, my experience and stay were nice! The only reason for a rating of 4 out of a 5 on location and for the rooms was only because of the water damage stain and cracks I saw in my room and as for location there just isn't really much to do in the area so just know that there isn't many stores or restraunts around unless your willing to travel a...
Read moreThe room was easy access and decent, stayed four nights, and room was not cleaned entire time we were there nor anyone offered clean towels, had to go get them myself. Heavy foot traffic and doors banging all night long every night. I reserved on their website and received confirmation of $75 a night. When they processed payment thru bank they overcharged, and when I asked about it they played stupid and would not refund the difference claiming I was getting room at a discounted price of $85.74 a night. I asked to speak with a manager and was told she was on vacation, so I asked for a number for corporate to speak with someone and was told there was no corporate or anybody I could talk to about it. No fridge or microwave in room or continental breakfast. Claiming to have fast wireless internet which was not working over half the time and kept disconnecting what time it was working. Room was very basic with single serve coffee maker and TV. Next time in area for family reunion we will be staying at another motel in nearby Paintsville. Save yourself the hassle and stay...
