It's a beautiful spot, however, there is no cell service in this area of the valley. So if you like to be disconnected from the world, then this is a good spot for you. I highly discourage going in Hurkey Creek if it's not running fast. If it isn't moving fast, I highly recommend staying out of the Creek. It will make you very sick, like it did me. I ended up in the hospital because of it. So please beware of that. Otherwise, it is a beautiful place to camp. And be aware that there are no bathrooms and no water, so you have to bring your own water, and bathrooms are...you find a bush unless you have a portable potty. If you pack it in, pack it out. I literally have to clean up trash at every site I go to because of people litering. Give a hoot, don't pollute. And at this current point in time, there are no campfires due to fire restrictions. And building your own campfire ring is not permitted in the forest, you can be fined ect. Please consider the other people who live on the mountain. You wouldn't want your home to burn down, and neither do they. Please be respectful of that fact as I see a lot of careless people who don't follow the rules. Also I am going to post the new rules that are in effect for all yellow post sites in the San Bernardino National Forest. Enjoy your time in this amazing forest.

We stayed along the #3 post sites for 3 nights while exploring the area. (#2 needed a bit higher clearance.) Nice paved road all the way to the turnoff for the sites; the first photo shows the turnoff with the sign on the right. Easy for any vehicle. There were people farther back, so we stayed closer to the road. Location is peaceful and scenic, though not secluded as you will see other campers and hear activities at one of the near by children's camp. This was the best spot we found in the area that was navigable in our 2WD extended Transit as other forest roads we came across needed higher clearance. Definitely needed bug screens but otherwise a nice escape from the summer heat. No facilities; leave no trace!

Enjoyed a cool and very quiet night here at yellow camp #1. No issues, since this 1st time we've been back again and stayed in #3 not to many shade trees here. All in all it was ok, easy to get too and road was safe (june)
