Holiday Inn Express & Suites Paragould, an IHG Hotel — Hotel in Paragould

When we booked this, we paid through a booking app. The booking app listed the place as having an indoor pool--it does not. The pool is not great and has zero shading. The breakfast wasn't bad--they got me excited by having a place for bacon but they didn't have any. The milk was frozen but the biscuits and gravy were tasty and fresh. The room had a great ac and a nice TV. Johnny, the overnight worker, is great! He's so friendly and was very thorough! I give him 5 stars completely! Rated the hotel itself the way I did because our fridge wasn't working correctly (it kept filling up with water, even though it didn't need to be defrosted) and when we first turned the water on in the shower it was brown. The sheets were absolutely not clean--the conditioner bottle on the wall was empty, there was hair in the shower (all over the shower wall and curtain) and the sheets on the bed beside the window had crusty white stuff (yup, pretty sure I knew what it was) and blood on them. Fortunately there was a clean, plastic wrapped set of sheets in the closet so we remade the bed. None of the outlets on the lamps worked. The internet is horrible. I am a teacher and was trying to access the internet to grade and it just would not stay connected. Constantly would start lagging and buffering then I'd get a message saying there was no internet and/or that it was "unavailable." It wasn't my laptop, because when I turned on my Hotspot it worked flawlessly. We were supposed supposed have paid everything on the app for the room, the app advertised "no hidden fees." I love this hotel! Every one is so friendly and there to help. Rooms are clean, beds are extremely comfortable and the internet works as it should. The only reason I couldn't give this hotel excellent is because of one of the women that does the breakfast. I saw two while I was there and one of them was excepsonel and the other gave you the impression that she hated having to be there and believe me it showed. It wasn't just me, there were several other people talking about her. When she was working the coffee was empty /cold, creamer wasn't she out, half and half empty, late putting out breakfast. Everybody was as sitting around looking at their watches waiting for breakfast so they could go to work. It's bad enough that they make you wait until 6:30 for breakfast so to always make people wait even longer is ridiculous!!! Don't take this wrong because I'm not a tiny person so I don't mean anything by what I'm fixing to say but this is the only way I can say it since I don't have names. The larger young woman was the exceptional server. She was friendly, courteous and went above and beyond to help. She tracked down the little tubs of regular creamer and breakfast was on time if not early!!!! If anything, she deserves a raise for having to work behind the other young woman which was the smaller of the two. All we wanted was a pleasant place to stop off and relax a few hours, watch some TV, and get a good night's sleep during our road-trip. That sure didn't happen.

We were NOT welcomed with, "Thank you for being...." but simply given our key and when asked the agent to confirm the internet code, she offered to re-write it IF it was unreadable? She failed to tell us about breakfast but there was a sign on the door. No coffee available; not even lemon water, etc. The room thermostat was showing 70 degrees when we arrived....but it felt more like 50. We attempted to adjust it several times, but to no avail....it was TOO cold, then TOO hot, etc. making for a very restLESS night. There was TOO Much furniture in the room. EXTRA chair and table stuffed beside the bed making it very difficult to even get in/out of bed. We phoned the front desk twice to inquire about restaurants and didn't receive much helpful info. Also called about TV channels and was given INCORRECT information. Breakfast was mediocre ...COFFEE was warm, not HOT. Creamer was the packets that are stored at room temperature...only 1 kind....no options. BACON was the only good thing about breakfast. The attendant was pleasant and chatted with some customers. When we checked out, the front desk agent blamed COVID for all the negative things I shared. We certainly will NOT stop over here...
