Little Norway Resort — Hotel in Park Rapids

Our family has been going to this resort for over 20 years. We have always rented out almost half the resort for the week. When one of us went to go put our deposit for next year, the owner, Ben, told us that he would not like us to come back. The reasoning was that this is a family resort and “nice families come here” insinuating we are in fact not a nice family. We have always been respectful to others at the resort, and ALWAYS clean up after ourselves. We were told it was disrespectful to other families to have alcohol at the beach, even though most other families also are drinking there. We are also not unruly at the beach while drinking. It almost always is just sitting in a circle relaxing, which is what vacation should be. We have been nagged multiple times throughout our time there to make sure we clean up, even though it has never been an issue. Anytime we are told something, we politely agree to it and listen. We have always felt Ben had some sort of vendetta against us, ever since his mother was the owner. I would love to recommend this place, as we have had a ton of great times there, but the fact that the new owner, Ben, has shown us so much disrespect, forces me to leave...

I've gone here for 20 years now and its always the highlight of my summer. Some of my favorite memories growing up are from this resort, and now I get to bring my own children. Chuck and Sissel have always been so friendly and accommodating. I think my favorite thing is the weekly itinerary they coordinate for the kids! They do pontoon rides and tubing, a guided hike to search for 'trolls', a family bbq, etc. They also have a fun playground and peddle cars with little race track that occupied me for hours when I was younger. They have a game room in the lodge, and even board games and movies to borrow. It's a stones throw from the Mississippi headwaters, and there's also a fun and affordable amusement park (used to be called christmasland!) close by so you'll never be bored. This is a beautiful vacation spot! We are so thankful we found this resort and will be returning next year! Fantastic for family time and relaxing! The resort provides various activities for everyone (bingo, nature hike, ice cream social)! The owners are wonderful hosts and truly cared that our family has a nice vacation. The beach and swimming activities including kayaks with free life jackets to use free. Let's not forget the gresh spring water lake super clean, also allowing for great fishing fun! There are activities available in case of rainy days too (ping pong table, great playyroom for kids etc). All around an excellent 10 out of 10 experience!
