My family and I attended a very small wedding at Cameo Heights.
Pros: Cameo Heights is gorgeous (minus the long driveway leading up to the mansion—It did not leave a good first impression for a 5-star luxury resort). The ceremony had a lovely view. The theater room and lounge (where reception was held) is comfortable, and the pool area looks relaxing. Their grounds are well-kept. We were offered a nice selection of tasty hors d'oeuvres.
Cons: Our experience—We were very briefly (and awkwardly) greeted by Stacy, the new owners wife. We were told “Go downstairs!” When we asked where that was at, she rudely responded “down the stairs!” So we looked around until we found them (Also where the groomsmen were getting ready). Stacy was dressed very unprofessional for a wedding in her (high-end luxury) resort. She was the primary staff member who served the hors d’oeuvres and drinks.
It was a very small wedding, with only 7 of us guests. After the ceremony, Stacy awkwardly just stood and watched us for at least 45 minutes while we just sat there, clueless as to what was next. It was very uncomfortable with her just standing over us but not saying anything. Finally, (as Larry, the new owner, was sure to mention), there was indeed a minor incident with a bridesmaid—she jumped in the pool in her OWN dress (not a rental as he naively claimed). I’m by no means dismissing the incident, but it was 105+ degrees out, so we were hot, bored, confused, and uncomfortable due to being indiscreetly glared at!
With that said, apparently Larry did not read my review throughly, as I was clearly NOT a bridesmaid—but his response confirms their unprofessional demeanor. In addition, (as he claimed), there were actually NO “staying guests” around at that time. The Maid-of-honor and myself tried to make it less unpleasant by asking if there was anything we could do to help, but all we got in return were glares. As guests we were unaware of the “schedule”, so we had just been patiently sitting and waiting (including the kids whom were on their devises). Suddenly, more than 45 minutes later, Stacy abruptly began yelling, “EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET OUT NOW! THIS PARTY IS OVER!” Even as the parents begun gathering their wedding party clothes, Stacy (almost quite literally) started shoving us out—the back door, nonetheless!
The bride and bridemaids were upstairs and the groom was looking for his sons’ bag for us to take. Everyone else had been thrown out so I was solo inside, simply standing there waiting. Again I attempted conversation, and asked if there was anything I could do to help. She ignored me but finally 10 min later yelled, “NO! JUST GET OUT! I SAID THIS PARTY IS OVER!” I tried to explain again that I can’t leave without the bag. She then said, “JUST GET OUT! I’LL BRING THE BAG!” (She wouldn’t let me upstairs to ask the bride myself). As I walked out, I attempted to tell her that one of the little girls out here is the maid-of-honors daughter and her mom is upstairs. She stopped me and yelled, “YES, I KNOW!” And grabbed the girls’ arm and took her inside!
Overall: Needless to say, unfortunately this 1-star review is due to how Stacy (new owners wife) treated us as guests—as well as her unprofessional appearance. It’s also now due to Larry (new owners), unprofessional, tacky, and unrealistic response to my review on another site. To Larry’s claims: If the “schedule and noise” is a concern for the “staying guests” then maybe luxury weddings shouldn’t be offered at this resort (or major changes are needed). And, if “children aren’t allowed”, then maybe brides and grooms with children shouldn’t be accepted at Cameo. Lastly, each child in attendance did indeed have an adult chaperone as supposedly was requested.
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I wanted anyone potentially looking at Cameo for their event or party venue, to be aware—especially since this is apparently not out of the norm for these new owners. I genuinely hope they change their unprofessional mannerisms, because Cameo Heights is...

The great:
The place is truly gorgeous. It is secluded and peaceful with beautiful grounds.
The food was remarkable and dinner was fabulous at the on site restaurant (leaving a 5-star review for The Vine). The chef is an amazing young man!
There are plenty of free snacks (sodas, chips, etc.) on site which is appreciated.
Great little pool and hot tub with comfortable lounge chairs. Cool movie room. Place has a decent collection of DVDs, although most are a bit dated.
-The rooms are wonderful and tasteful. We stayed in the Spanish our first night and the English the second night. The Spanish was our favorite as it has easy access to the pool.
The Not So Great:
It is pricey and the 'extras' they charge have rather steep price tags (massage, birthday package, dinner, etc). You also have pay for late check out and early check in.
We checked out of our room and wanted to stay at the pool for an hour before we left but were informed we would have to pay for a late check out. While I respect and understand the policy from a business point of view, what separates a four star and a five star place is sometimes a willingness to accommodate the customer free of charge (this makes the customer feel special, making them want to come back). We were celebrating my wife's birthday and it was a Sunday when everyone else had checked out. Letting us use the pool for an hour without having to pay extra after we had stayed there two days (and spent over 1k) did not seem like an unreasonable request. Nonetheless, this did not ruin our overall experience, but it will make us think twice about coming back in the future.
The top room has a bug problem. The establishment is certainly aware of this problem as the staff kindly left a bug spray can in the room. The spray was effective but it isn't nice to come in to your room at night and find hundreds of gnats gathered around the lamp. Then you have to spray, leave the room and wait for the smell to dissipitate (toxic spray). Not ideal.
This is not an experience within the establishment's control and the owner did respond immediately (which was appreciated). My wife and I went for a walk down the hill toward the river nearby. When we walked by a residence on our way, we were met by a charging, rather aggressive German Shepherd. We froze in fear and the dog repeatedly charged us whenever we attempted to move down the road (or really move at all). It was terrifying. It continued to growl and bark as we carefully made our way back up the road and it stalked us for a good five minutes before finally turning back. We informed staff immediately of the issue who called Stacy (the owner of Cameo) who contacted the owner of the dog and got the dog owner to bring the dog inside and hopefully keep the dog on a leash in the future. So, for future guests, I do not anticipate this being a problem in the future thanks to Stacy's quick and decisive action! Still, it was a rather unfortunate experience, but we do appreciate how quickly action was taken even if we had to be the guinea pigs.
With a few tweaks, we would likely come back to Cameo Heights on a regular basis. Nonetheless, if you want a truly peaceful place that feels far away from the city life where you can unwind, or are celebrating a special occasion, I would highly recommend this bed and breakfast.
Shout out to the staff as well. You guys do a lot and are always...

Upon arrival, Stacy offered us a tour and a glass of champagne and brought us to our room. We were provided text updates with information regarding our stay and encouraged to reach out with any additional questions. The owners were friendly and attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. There were many extras during our stay like complimentary sodas, waters, ice cream bars (for late night snacks), smores kits and popcorn for the popcorn maker downstairs. The overall atmosphere is very cozy, relaxing and welcoming. Staff encourage you to make yourself at home, help yourself to the many treats available, and explore the beautiful grounds. We stayed in the Spanish Suite and it was beyond incredible. The suite is on the bottom floor just off the commom area with private doors that open up to the patio and pool. It's very spacious and beautifully decorated with everything we needed (and things we forgot -there were extra razors under the sink ). The owners provided handmade soaps, bubble bath and sugar scrubs next to the large jetted tub. The king-sized bed was very comfortable with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. The Spanish Suite is downstairs and has doors that open up to the patio area, which is great for enjoying your morning coffee. The patio has a firepit, smores pit, pool, hot-tub and many cozy chairs to relax and unwind and enjoy the beautiful views. Dinner at The Vine with Chef Caleb and Sasha (our waitstaff) was INCREDIBLE! The meal consisted of 7 courses and a selection for your main and dessert. We were able to watch Chef Caleb prepare our meals (at the meal time of our choice WOW) just feet away from where we ate. The setting is cozy and intimate. Sasha was very attentive and checked in on us frequently. She gave great recommendations and explained what each course would entail. We were offered a vast beer and wine selection with several of our favorites from many local breweries and wineries. The food was fresh, made from scratch, locally sourced, and cooked to perfection. Fun fact, Chef Caleb makes the bread from scratch DAILY and it is DELICIOUS. Our meal was so amazing, we forgot to take pictures until we were almost finished. The only downside to Chef Caleb's dinner is that any meal you eat AFTER leaving Cameo Heights will pale in comparison The Vine is a great spot for an intimate and elevated dining experience where the staff treat you like celebrities. After dinner, we walked down to the patio and had had a glass of wine by the firepit under the stars. The next morning, Larry brought coffee and fresh made danishes at 8. We drank coffee on the patio and watched a deer peacefully walking by. We enjoyed a complimentary breakfast at The Vine (another stellar meal) before heading home. Overall, Cameo Heights is a beautiful, welcoming place to come unwind and get a little spoiled. We look forward to coming back soon. Thank you...
