In October 2023 we rented a site by the pond… all was good for the 4 days that we were there! So the day before we had to leave my brother and I went to the store to see if we could stay for a week… as the lady checked the site and replied…we would have to move because it is rented. (that was understandable…we could do that) and she would look for another . Proceeds to say I’m sorry we don’t have anything open… so my brother looks at me and says what do you want to do? when I said I guess we’ll call another campground. She then looks again, and finds another site for us… so we booked it for 7 more days. I think it was in a seasonal site… as we were told by others. We pack everything up and get to the spot unpack everything and was good for the first 2 days. A camper came in with nice people… then a Father and son in-law came to seasonal spot nice people my brother shared his home made chili with them. The next day the seasonal people came in next to us around 10AM So around 11:30AM /12:30PM my brother was listening to music and a couple beers, the guy next to us came over and ask him to turn it down so his son and wife could take a nap. My brother responded no problem! and they talked for a little bit about the man being in the Marines and my brothers son, being in the Marines, and even thanked him for his service! So later on when that man and his family left, My brother turn the music up , as it’s still early in the day! So I guess they told office lies when they got back, It was nowhere around 11 PM. (Quiet time.) No One came to our campsite from the office and said anything to us!!!! No warnings !!!! nothing!!! The only reason we found out that that man did what he did is a couple days ago Nov.11 2023 we called to get a campsite for Thanksgiving and the lady put a man on as she was having a problem looking us up…I guess the manager on the phone, and told us that we were not welcome back because he had gotten complaint that we had our music up till 4 AM in the morning… which is ridiculous!!! there’s no way that we were up till 4 AM especially when we get up early in the morning and with no naps during the day! We would probably be in around 10ish pm! At night. And some days we would go out and visit friends. So I guess when you pay for a site you can’t have a couple beers and enjoy music and a nice fire? That man was a Liar!!!!! I just don’t understand why no one came to our campsite and said anything to us from the store!!!!! We’ve been coming there for over 20 years!!!!! No phone call ??? No letter????? They have phone number and address! They wait to you call to book a site again… for thanksgiving!…and then tell you all this!!!! We were shocked!!!! We’re 58 and almost 61 years old we can do a face to face civilized conversation!! So you do it on the phone.?? A Month later?????!!! This situation should have been taken care of when we where their!!!! This is so sad…. that this is handled like this!!! Hope you All have a Great and Happy Thanksgiving!!! Even the Liars!!! We hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving too!!!! Our ‘s is ruined!!!! But in another review, when a lady was talking about a seasonal person running their blower all day long. I think she said like seven hours. She couldn’t sit around her fire. Enjoy it with quietness, and nothing was done to that person ! As you told her that they are doing that to keep upkeep on their site, but that’s OK that they can run that for seven hours straight! I know we were NOT out there at 4 AM in the morning no way!!!!!!!! Someone should have came to us and let us know what was going on.. we would have complied with everyone’s wishes! We are not that complicated!!!!! oh, by the way, we were not drunk in disorderly… you would have known that if you would have came to...
Read moreWe recently had a very disappointing experience at Ridge Rider Campground. We camped with friends and family over the weekend.||||On Sunday, my truck had a mechanical problem and I needed to have it towed to a maintenance shop for repairs. Therefore I could not tow my camper home from the campground. Ridge Rider offered to store my camper in its storage lot for $50. I gladly paid the $50 fee and was grateful for the ability to store my camper there until I could return with my truck to retrieve it.||||I returned to retrieve my camper on Wednesday after my truck was repaired. I hooked up my camper and noticed that the tongue jack was not working until I hooked up the power cord to my truck. I figured that the battery had died and that it would charge while I towed it home. I drove straight home from the campground without stopping.||||When I parked the camper at home, I disconnected the trailer's power cord from my truck. Then, when I went to raise the camper using the tongue jack, again it had no power and would not work. I checked my battery holder, which was neatly covered and strapped as it was before I stored it at the campground.||||Lo and behold, there was no battery in the holder. It had obviously been stolen while in storage at the campground.||||I spoke with John at Ridge Rider campground and requested that he refund the $50 storage fee I was charged since my camper was not safely stored at the campground. John refused to refund the $50 storage fee and stated that the campground clearly disclaimed liability for damage to my camper. I told him that I was not requesting that the campground pay for a new battery, which cost me $150 since I understood that the campground did not assume that liability. Instead, I was asking the campground to refund the storage fee that it had charged me for safe storage of my camper, which the campground did not provide. John was unwavering in his position despite my reasonable request.||||I first camped at Ridge Rider in 1987, when it was known as Little Orleans Campground. I have camped there and rented cabins there regularly since then. During the past five years, I have camped there 6-8 times. I also rented a large cabin there last year. I have recommended the campground to many friends and family members since I had such good times there.||||Obviously, due to this experience, I will no longer recommend Ridge Rider Campground to anyone. Also, I will no longer camp there, which would have quickly made up for the courtesy of a $50 refund due to the unsafe camper storage that was provided.||||It is unfortunate that management is so short sighted and money grubbing that they cannot appreciate the need to refund me my storage fee when they did not provide the storage service they promised to me. I hope that they learn to treat...
Read moreRidge Rider Campground is nestled in a serene wooded mountain setting, just 6 miles off the highway exit. The drive to the campground is scenic and well-marked, making it easy to find even for first-time visitors. The location is perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse themselves in nature.
A couple of the standout features are the cleanliness and quality of its facilities. The bathrooms are well-maintained, with modern fixtures and ample space. The showers have good water pressure and are kept spotless, which is a huge plus for campers who value hygiene and comfort. The free wifi is a bonus as cell service is spotty at best as one would expect while out in the woods.
The campground is wonderfully quiet, providing a peaceful and relaxing environment. Whether camping solo, with a partner, or with family, the tranquility of the surroundings makes it an ideal place to unwind. The wooded area also offers plenty of shade, perfect for staying cool during hot summer days.
The well water at Ridge Rider is not only safe to drink but also surprisingly good tasting. It's clear and refreshing, making it easy to stay hydrated during your stay. This is a big advantage, as campers don't have to worry about bringing bottled water or dealing with unpleasant-tasting water.
They have a pool, and playground and do have some activities on busy weekends to entertain young ones during the day and adults at night. The DJ on the week we stayed was very entertaining.
Overall, Ridge Rider Campground in Little Orleans MD offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, comfort, and tranquility. Its wooded mountain location, clean bathrooms, quiet atmosphere, and great-tasting well water make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to enjoy a peaceful camping experience. Whether you're an experienced camper or new to the outdoors, this campground provides a welcoming and enjoyable stay.
