The pros: Decent location seeing how it is in the middle of nowhere. Makes it easier to get to jobs in this area so you don't have to stay an hour away. Although...I would rather stay an hour away just to be able to go out and do things every now and then. There is nothing to do anywhere near this place.
UPS delivers to the camp which is great if you order something from Amazon. USPS holds items at the local post office and the camp employees go pick them up twice per week. Makes it a little harder to get USPS packages but definitely not impossible.
The Frac Shack typically has some decent food depending on who is working that night. It can take a while to get your order if you show up during the busy hours.
Hot water never runs out and the beds are moderately comfortable (not counting the pillows!).
The bad: The rooms all have something wrong with them. ACs often have mold inside them and smell fairly bad when turned on. Faucets (especially the cold side) don't like to turn off, so you have to reach under the sink and turn it off on the line. Shower heads are clogged up and hardly put out any pressure. Doors don't shut right and remain partially open unless you slam them hard enough to shake the entire building. Walls are very thin and you'll definitely hear both sides of your neighbors' conversations on the phone.
Employees walk and ride around on their golf cars all day smoking cigarettes like they're going out of style. I don't enjoy a cloud of smoke coming inside my room when I open the door. Nor do I enjoy sitting and trying to eat in a cloud of smoke while dining outside of the Frac Shack while a worker is sitting there on their phone smoking a cigarette in their golf car. Unfortunately, this happens quite often. (I'm just going to add that I smoked for 16 years before quitting so I'm no stranger to smoke. I just don't enjoy being forced to be in the middle of everyone's smoke anymore).
Most of the workers in the office are decent but there is one lady, I don't remember her name, who will let you sit there and ring the doorbell at the front gate five or six times before finally opening the gate. Then have the nerve to get an attitude and threaten to kick you out of the camp when someone behind you gets sick of waiting and opens the gate for you. This has happened to more than one person that I know, me included.
Parking at this camp is not a very fun experience. The only place you're allowed to park is in the front lot. On busy days you'll have to walk a quarter mile to get to your room. There are other spots large enough to allow parking, but they do not let anyone park there.
I saved the worst for last... The food in the main dining room is absolutely awful other than a dish here and there. Everything is overloaded with salt to the point that I struggle to eat most of it. The eggs at breakfast always taste like they're cooked about 20 minutes too long and feel like rubber. Everything they serve for dinner is just gross. I would love to have a little bit of food with my salt sometimes. Instead, I feel like a deer licking on...
Read moreDominoes Pizza on Bender is my to go place for Pizza but tonight whom ever was Managing and Overseeing this establishment missed The Mark Entirely. The Delivery Driver approached me Elijah’s first words were “ My manager said if you have any complaints about your order feel free to call the store. What the Heck. Our lava cakes a mess and not warm at all. A piece of cardboard in the shape of a #1 was added to my cakes under one of the cakes which my wife bit into it. As if they already knew I would have a reason to call the store. Secondly the icon that tells the cook WELL DONE HAS NOT APPEARED FOR MY LAst 10 orders so I tell them in the delivery instructions and they have always made the pizza according to the instructions which is a simple WELL DONE CRUST. The delivery person mentioned to me that they would not follow any cooking instructions place in the delivery section even though they’ve always have done so. The Well done icon is impossible to find. I’ve looked for it and have even restarted my order to see if it would give me that option but no it never appeared. So our crust was not cooked even remotely close to that. It was a bit rude for the manager to send the delivery driver with the message the first thing that came out of his mouth was “ IF YOU HAVE ANY COMPLAINTS MY MANAGER SAID TO CALL THE STORE. So did the Manager pack my cakes in this manner because He or She wanted to give me a reason to call the store to set me straight about not including cooking instructions in the delivery section. Why would you tell your driver to approach the customer with this rude message. First words out of his mouth were not good evening like I told him. Instead it was if you have any complaints about your order my manager said to call the store. It was then I knew that sorting would be bad with my order. Please fix the attitude. My wife and I are very good tippers and long standing customers of this store..Not a satisfied...
Read moreRooms are the best they can be considering the situation. They got food and have been generous so far, and you get your own shower sort of because it's shared with adjacent room, but it's not bad there has always been hot water, the best signal is from the south west on my tmobile. So maybe any room with a clear line of sight to the southwest would be ideal. They also have a rec room with tv and another chowhall with burgers and pizza and a gym. Oh, i almost forgot you have a TV in your room, but no fridge. The picture is in the direction of where the...
