I really hate leaving terrible reviews, and whenever possible, I try to focus on the positives. However, there are times when the experience is just really bad, you feel like you’ve been taken advantage of and you want others be aware. The Links Bos Landen Hotel & Spa was such an experience. Surprising, I know, since it’s in the Trademark by Wyndam Collection. |First, I’ll give some positives. The people in Iowa are SUPER nice. Pella is a wonderful town. The Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville is really well-done if you’re into Sprint Car racing (sprintcarhof.com). Main Street Markt in Pella has great food and everything you need for an impromptu picnic (mainstreetmarkt.com). The Links Bos Landen is conveniently located to Pella and Knoxville.|My husband and I recently stayed at the Links Bos Landen Hotel & Spa in Pella for the Knoxville Nationals Sprint Car Championship, and I am sorry to say, it was incredibly disappointing, especially given the hotel’s claim of offering "Thoughtful Amenities & Service." This place fell far short of those expectations. |To start, the smell of chlorine from the indoor pool permeated the hotel…from the lobby to our room, the burning smell of chlorine made my eyes red and burning the entire stay. Our room had no closet or even hooks to hang clothing, which is a basic hotel staple. When I brought this up to the front desk clerk immediately after check-in, the staff member—who admitted she was new—was unsure how to help. I asked if we could borrow a luggage cart to hang our clothes on, but she said there were only two and they couldn’t be spared. |The room itself was in poor condition and my assumption is the room was hastily prepared in anticipation of a sold-out, Knoxville National Championship week. The pleather couch was sticky, to which I was told it was likely due to the cleaner they use…of course that didn’t make me feel any better and we simply choose not to sit on it. The window cranks were broken, making it impossible to open the windows for fresh air (to flush out the chlorine smell) or in case of an emergency. The bathroom fan was inoperable, with the knob missing altogether. The laminate wood flooring felt cold and gritty underfoot, and the wood trim around the refrigerator was missing. Speaking of the refrigerator, it only kept food moderately cold even though I cranked it up, leaving us concerned about the safety of storing food inside. There was no rhyme-or-reason why we had two ironing board holders randomly placed on different walls. Several cracks in the walls that were unprofessionally patched. And finally, the Wi-Fi was painfully slow, prompting us to default to our personal hotspots.|On top of all that, I was informed that the hotel had been purchased last January, and there was actually no “spa” on the premises, despite the misleading name and advertising. If the hotel is undergoing a transition, it should not be billed as a Resort & Spa until it truly meets those standards. Motel and small, highly chlorinated Jacuzzi would better describe BOS Landing.|As for the hotel's amenities, the "bar" is nothing more than an afterthought: some stools at a counter along with a tiny two-seat high-top table in the middle of the first-floor room corridor. The laundry room was dirty and poorly maintained, with an older washing machine and dryer, an over-flowing trash can, and no supplies available. Trash bags were stacked in a visible location off the first-floor hallway, adding to the overall sense of poor maintenance.|Finally, several times during our visit, the “24 Hour Front Desk” was unattended, with a sign stating, “I am assisting another guest, will return shortly.” One evening, my husband waited for quite some time, and finally left as no one ever returned.|Overall, this hotel is a far cry from what it advertises, especially at the $300+ per night we paid (inflated due to demand the week we were there, normally it’s in the $70-80 range). Had we been able to find another room in the area we would have relocated, but hence, the Knoxville Nationals are incredibly popular and rooms in the greater Knoxville/Pella regional were booked. If you’re considering a stay here, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere until significant...

I was to stay for one night 10/23 in Pella due to my daughter performing at State Individual. After a 3 hour drive get to the hotel we go to check in and we try the room keys the front desk guy gave us and noticed a do not disturb sign on the door, and the keys wouldn't work. Walk back to the front desk and they say oh sometimes we have to re-do them and housekeeping forgets the door hangers. So he makes new cards and we try a 2nd time and this time we can hear someone in the room. Walk back to the front desk and tell them I hear someone in the room. He looks at me and says that can't be that is your room. He tells me to hold on he will figure it out. After waiting 5 minutes or so he tells me there must have been a glitch or someone gave away our room. The only thing he could offer me was a King room. I asked is there a pull out couch or a roll away bed, he replied with no. So now my family of 4 has no where to sleep at 9:30pm 3 hours away from home and my daughter performs at 8:00am the next morning. In all my years of booking hotels I have NEVER had this happen. We were lucky her coaches helped us find a room at their hotel, so my daughter could get sleep before performing. That same night I send an email to the General Manager Kim regarding as to what happened and that I demanded her to call me back on Friday with a resolution in the morning. I Didn't hear anything from her so I call the hotel in the afternoon and asked for the general manager and was told she was sick and to call back on Monday. So I call on Monday, as I want someone to respond to me pertaining this mess so it doesn't happen to anyone else! Again Kim is busy on a phone call and I was told she would call me back. Well never received that phone call on Monday 10/27. Called today on Tuesday 10/28 aa This time I can hear the front desk lady's conversation with the GM Kim on just give her points and Kim is still refusing to talk to me and made Lisa do all the talking. I am pissed I was left with no room on a busy weekend when almost all hotels were booked! I am not impressed with how Kim the General Manager handled the situation and didn't even try to contact me or actually talk to me. If you cannot handle confrontation with customers than maybe you are in the wrong profession. Yes was I mad Thursday night you bet! But If Kim would have reached out via email or called me back, we could have handled this situation way better. I am so disappointed in how this...
