My husband & I have been married for twenty years. Throughout those years we have chosen and enjoyed many lovely experiences at premium bed & breakfasts across the United States. Often we have stayed at "Select Registry" B&Bs. I've never written a review before but... The Grey Hare offered: a clean suite, delicious breakfast, comfortable bed, views of cherry orchards, vineyards and friendly innkeepers. The Grey Hare also offered many exceptions, such as: a very weedy and spidery patio, instructions to please refrain from wearing scented lotions or perfume-especially during breakfast, also, verbal instructions to the fact that we prefer if you enjoy your libations only in the common area--excuse us but we had a suite and we were looking forward to a Manhattan in OUR suite, please refrain from using the (tiny) whirlpool tub during such and such hours, also, the innkeepers strongly recommend that you stay at least two nights or we will charge you more and complain about the time it takes to clean the room and having to clean your linens and towels because "in keeping with the European ....we would prefer to only change your sheets and towels every 2-3 days!!!! Look-- if you ask any of my fiends or acquaintances about my "green-ness" they will tell you that I compost and have been recycling since 1982. But, if I am paying over $350.00 a night, I enjoy some lavishness: especially when it comes to exquisite linens, which the towels definitely lacked. In addition, we refused the turn down service and "she" ignored our request and stated that she didn't know what they would do if they didn't do it!!?? This experience turned us off SO off to the bed & breakfast scene that I don't know if we will "go there" again? Sadly leaving...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our weekend at the Grey Hare Inn. It's in a quiet location and yet close to all the wineries. Jay and Cindy are very friendly, professional, and just plain likeable. The rooms are tastefully appointed and spotless. I was relieved to have air conditioning, as we were there during a humid weekend. The grounds are beautiful. And the breakfast...oh my goodness. I've never eaten that well in my life. Cindy is truly a gourmet chef. I cannot even begin to describe the savory deliciousness of those meals, but I think of them daily. One thing that caught us off guard was the morning tidy up. Despite the "do not disturb" sign on the door, they still went in our room while we were eating breakfast. It was a little embarrassing as we hadn't finished cleaning up and getting ready for the day. They also used the opportunity to give us a mini lecture because we left a window cracked open and the air on (I had only opened the window that morning to get a better picture overlooking the vineyard). Jay and Cindy read the reviews and are very responsive to their guests, so maybe they'll take it into consideration for future patrons. Thank you, Jay and Cindy, for a...
Read moreThis was a dream come true type of mini trip. My Fiance and I were suppose to get married this past weekend and due to current circumstances, we had to postpone. We didn't want to be stuck in Chicago so decided on a mini getaway. My fiance proposed to me in the south of France so when I saw this B&B, I reached out to see if they could help me in surprising him. Karlee is AMAZING! She helped me plan something sweet for my fiance everyday that we were there. the first day we arrived, she had a cheese platter set up with their house Syrah- she later set up the Rose with chocolate covered strawberries. the last day we were there, we had a wine tour with Karlee's husband at their rustic barn a short walk from the B&B. We came back to the room to a beautiful macaroon plate set up. Everything about this experience was unbelievable. Oh! before I forget, Karlee made some amazing breakfast/Pastries everyday from scratch using fresh ingredients, we fell in love with the area, karlee's little family, and the entire experience. this will definitely be a tradition for my fiance and I every year....
