I was incredibly disappointed with this campground. ||We camp often with family and friends and since this campground is marketed as a family campground we thought our group of parents and children would be ok to partake in family friendly, kid centric activities on the sites we rented (these included crafts, the limbo, lots of games, 100s of dollars spent on site at AJs, watching movies, and dancing to the YMCA and Cha Cha Slide, all of which WELL before the 11pm quiet hour).||On one of the weekend evenings while our children were dancing to the YMCA the owner of the campground came onto the site aggressively and told us to shut it down (which is his right to ask us to turn music down or off and we immediately complied). It was before 8:30PM, and there was not a single warning or conversation before this very uncomfortable, aggressive interaction. ||The worst part was his approaching the female that rented the site and pointing his walkie talkie inches from her face threatening her aggressively and uncomfortably swearing in front of all of our small children ages 6-12. We were all in shock, he demanded we shut the music down and we immediately complied and still he continued to yell and point, swear and threaten our group. As compliant respectful adults it shook us to have this type of aggressive boarder-line scary reaction to children dancing (to appropriate family friendly songs in daylight) and families sharing a meal. ||We were told we were being watched, by him, from his house on the hill above us and that we needed to shut up or leave immediately (these threats came after we had immediately turned the music off and the children were silent because they were all very scared of this man). ||It was so extreme that I was no longer comfortable having my responsible respectful children go into the campground alone for fear of how he might treat them as he was not afraid to be aggressive towards my female friend with a group of people watching. ||The next day, Hill and Hollow staff tried to bribe our group to not share the way we were treated with free passes at AJs. We were also approached by a number of campers including multiple seasonal campers that let us know this was not an isolated event and they were not in any way in agreement with the owners behaviors or response to our family friendly appropriate activities including the 5 nearest camping groups we were friendly with throughout the weekend. (If you look back in the reviews you will see similar experiences of a creepy and aggressive owner).||I’m one that tries to leave positive reviews everywhere I go however this did not feel safe and I would hate for someone else to stay here and have a similar experience. There are so many safe, family friendly campgrounds in the area, read my review then go back in the reviews and see visitors with similar experiences, it is not worth it to risk your safety by being around with Don in charge. ||If the owners daughter would like to speak I’m happy to continue this conversation about how we could’ve solved any issues in a respectful appropriate way. Feel free to reach out. ||Hoping for positivity, respect, and safety for all...

Read moreWe have camped at Hill and Hollow for several years. This year however will be our last. Our youngest daughter picks this campground every year as her choice because she likes the AJ’s that’s attached. This is the one trip all 4 of my children try to make it to. Our kids are all over 18 they all still live at home for the next little bit anyway and they still enjoy camping when they can. It’s rare they all get a weekend away at the same time. As a mom I enjoy having all of my family together in one place along with my daughters fiancé, my other daughters boyfriend, and my sons girlfriend. This year though Hill and Hollow said sorry about your luck we don’t care that you have a big family and a 40’ fifth wheel that sleeps 9 and houses everyone. You can only have 2 adults or in our case 4 because thats how many I booked back in February unsure of how many would be able to get it off work. We called explained all of our kids live under our roof. We were told we are following the cdc guidelines and by the way we would never have allowed it in the past which is untrue. We have camped here for years but other than pictures I have no proof. So we bought another site to put a tent then also had to buy a tent and instead of our children being all together they had to come in shifts and sleep in a tent in a thunderstorm we had to go and get them it was so bad when they could have slept in our trailer that had a bed for them. Thank you hill and hollow for the very last camping trip before our youngest leaves for college being such a craptastic weekend. Also the internet and phone signal is spotty at best. Both my husband and I needed internet for work and could not connect. Pandora would not play. All and all not great I would not recommend. Stay up the road and whispering surf and drive down to AJ’s if it’s really that important. I have attached the cdc recommendations. It does not say you can not have visitors, it does not say you can only...
