My family (2 adults and 5 kids) booked a room here that had 3 double beds, which was actually very accommodating. We came for a baseball tournament in Sandusky. That's where the good part of the review stops. I'm not going to complain about the noisy pool area, because kids are going to be kids and I'm just happy our kids got to swim for the night. As we were getting ready for bed I tried to turn on 2 of the lights, which did not work. One of the lights that did not work was right next to the bed in a nook area where mine and mom's bed was. We were not fans of where this room was placed as it was right across from the elevator and stairs. You'd think for paying for the biggest room in the hotel that is going to sleep 5+ people that they would put this in a lesser traffic area. ||Upon waking up, we opened the windows and noticed there was FRESH BLOOD on the duvet (remember the lights didn't work in this area of the room). I quickly started checking to see if I was bleeding. I was not, nor had I while I was sleeping. After realizing the small amount of blood, we moved more of the duvet to find multiple spots of fresh (not cleaned) blood. After this, we noticed that in the corner of that same area, there was blood all over the baseboards and the floor. I took pictures of all of this and headed down to the front desk. Arriving at the front desk around 6:30am, there were no employees who worked for the hotel who were staffed. I spoke with a kind lady who worked for Quality Inn who was only there because she knew the computer system. I could not stay as my kids had to be at their baseball game at 7:00am, at which time she said the employees would be showing up. I let her know of the situation and showed her the pictures. She was grossed out. I left my information with her and she said she would make sure someone contacted me as soon as they came in.||Around 1:30 I received a call from Carmella, who I am assuming was the manager on duty that day. I spoke to her about the issue in the room and my utter disgust as we were clearly sleeping in beds that had not been cleaned and tainted with blood and fresh red blood (not a stained color, but still very red) all over the baseboards and floor. After all of this she offered me a whopping 20% off of my room. Now I am not one to complain about my hotels. I used to travel frequently for work and travel very frequently for my kids' sports. I stay in hotels monthly. This was the most disgusting thing I have ever dealt with. I couldn't help but laugh when that was her offer. She then LAUGHED at me through the phone when I said that was not acceptable. She then offered me 50% off the room. I still declined this offer. I asked her if she did not understand that there was a literal biohazard in my room with 5 kids roaming around in. She laughed. She then made sure I was not "accepting" the 50% off. I told her she was, in fact, correct that I would be declining that offer and I wished to speak to someone above her. She declined to give me anyone else's information. I asked her if I could email her the pictures so that she could understand why I was so upset about this. She annoyingly accepted that offer and provided me with an email address. I send this email within 15 minutes on May 12, 2024. It is May 16, 2024 and I have yet to be contacted regarding the situation. ||I plan on reaching out to their corporate office and letting them know that not only was the situation of an unclean room not acceptable, but also the way the manager handled the situation was completely unprofessional.||The only good part of this stay were the waffles in the continental breakfast and the kind lady that checked me in. The rest...
Read moreHad a very frustrating time at this hotel from the moment we checked in. I checked in around 9/10 pm with a woman who just completely ignored while I spoke to her. She was taking calls for other customers while I was speaking. In between phone calls she would ask me for my info whilst still making absolutely no eye contact. After 10/15 minutes of this interaction she finally talks to me directly gives me a mumbled explanation about where to find my room and sends me off. When I do get over there I find out that the elevator is broken on that side of the hotel. Therefore I had to walk all the way to the front of the building to find out that’s the only elevator that works. On our way to said elevator we passed by a few people looking for their rooms also located in the back when we tried to give them a warning about the elevator situation they said the lady up front told them that it was closed. So now my group is rightfully frustrated because if she knew that why would she make us walk the whole building to find out? So once I do finally get in the room I find out my tv isn’t working and has no access to channels. I call to the front desk and same lady answers the phone. I tell her my issue she says she’ll have somebody sent up there it’ll just take a little bit and to be patient. My group leaves for a quick food run and when we come back about 1 1/2 hours later tv is still not fixed. We figure they’re still busy because the room next to us was having the same tv issues and were waiting on someone to come fix it as well. So I call down to the desk a few times and get no answer. My group ultimately falls asleep. Next AM I call down to front desk saying I need them to come fix the tv today since they couldn’t yesterday. They apologized and said ofc they’ll fix it. Whilst out for the day I get a few calls from an employee confirming it’s okay to come in to my room to fix the tv. Which I promptly let them know “yes”. Around 12 am we get back to the hotel from Cedar point and as we’re trying to enter the doors I noticed my key keeps being declined. I switched up the orientation even tried both keys. It just didn’t work. I walk to another door and continue having the same issue. So I go to the front desk and explain my issue the gentleman up front explains that the employee that checked me in didnt properly do her job so my keys were automatically locked after 24 hours not allowing me to get in the hotel. He rq unlocks the keys for me. As I’m walking away he makes a snarky comment saying “ well now you know how keys work”. I just brush it off because frankly I’m fed up at this point with this hotel. When I enter my room I’m greeted by a new tv. As me and my group turn it on we realize the tv hasn’t been set up yet. So we have to scan for channels and plug cords into the tv and all this other stuff which I frankly don’t care to do at 1 am at that point. Once we do start scanning for channels we find out that the cable itself is the issues because this new tv can’t find any new channels and only has one function which is live tv so the tv is useless and we just wasted our time. We ultimately just went to sleep and high tailed it out of there the next morning .$300 for the worst hotel experience ive ever had. Please choose somewhere else and save ur money. (Both me and another member of my group called looking for the manager who was supposed to be in per the employee I checked out with. But the manager conveniently was...
Read moreI chose this hotel because it was conveniently located near Cedar Point. We weren’t planning on staying after our trip, but decided to stay in Sandusky and needed something last minute. When I looked on Google, the reviews were pretty good for a two-star hotel, so I trusted that the hotel would be decent. I wish I would have checked Yelp because the reviews on yelp show that it truly is a two star hotel.
Upon arriving at the hotel, I made a reservation at the front desk, which was quick and easy.
When we arrived at our room, immediately, and I mean immediately, the smell hit us in the face. It smelled like mildew, similar to something wet or stale. We dropped our things off and left for about two hours, hoping that the smell would have gone away by the time we returned, but unfortunately, it had not. We decided to just deal with it and push through.
BUT upon beginning to use our room, we noticed some pretty disturbing things. First and foremost, there was hair in the bed, along with hair in multiple places in the shower. There was also what appeared to be a piece of a broken hairbrush on the bathroom counter, which leads me to believe that the room just wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. Perhaps they just made up the bed from the previous guest; I’m not sure. But that was the final straw for us, and we decided to pack up and find another place to stay.
We went down to the front desk and spoke with the same gentleman who had checked us in. We informed him of the issues with our room and simply asked for a refund because we had only been checked in for less than two hours. He informed us that he would not be able to give us a refund, and only the manager could do that. There was no manager on duty, and there wouldn’t be one until Monday. It would be up to her discretion if she would give a refund or not. I informed him that we had taken thorough pictures, so there wouldn’t be any issues proving what we had experienced.
THEN, about 45 minutes later, I received two additional charges on my credit card. One was in the amount of $25, and the other was the amount of the original room charge. So now I had three charges from this hotel on my credit card. I had to call and speak with customer relations about this issue and the two new charges.
Overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel. The pictures provided by the hotel are inaccurate compared to what you will receive for your room, and it’s evident that they do not make...
