Steinhatchee is a small fishing town my husband has wanted to fish out of for a long time. I am super picky about where I stay though. So, for our Christmas present to each other we took this trip. The cost per night is more than I would typically spend. The cottage we stayed in was lovely though. It was clean and very comfortable. It was perfect for the two of us. There was no check in - the door was unlocked and the key was on the table inside the front door. Check out was the same way - we left the key on the table and the door unlocked. When you walk in the front door there is a couch and bed and a small - but perfect for a few days - kitchen (full size refrigerator with freezer, small stove, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee pot) and a bathroom. We did not use the boat slips on the property. We put in at the public ramp. Things to know - not all cottages have parking for boat trailers. There is a spot on the property but it was very difficult to find when we arrived after dark. The cottage we stayed at had parking directly in front. We were driving a full size truck to pull the boat and it was a little difficult to maneuver around the property and make sure we were parked well. Also, I noticed a couple other reviews mention the large bath tub and shower heads. The bathtub is huge and wonderful but I had no idea how to operate the button pad. The bathtub never filled up with hot water. The water did not stay hot for more than it takes to take a shower. Then it turned cold fast. But if we waited about 15 minutes, it would get warm again. The fishing was fun - side note - the Sea Hag was super helpful to us newbies. There is a GREAT space to clean your fish on the property. We carried our cooler with the fish to the cleaning area. Lots of space and hose and sinks. While we were there two or three other groups came in with their fish also and it was one big fish cleaning party. The pelicans feasted that afternoon for sure. So, all in all, it was a fantastic weekend in a great place. Super clean and super comfortable. The very contact we had with management was very friendly and helpful. It was a little...
Read moreWe stayed in Cottage # 26, Forest Breeze. The room was lovely but the bathroom was "interesting." It has a 2-person jetted tub that was a challenge to operate. There is no shower curtain. You shower in the tub with a handheld wand or a rain shower head. The water got extremely hot very quickly. The cottage features a fireplace that is 2-sided, facing into the bedroom and bathroom. Therefore, anyone in the main area can watch you shower. Bring your own blow dryer; the one in the bathroom is weak.||Internet was a challenge; a friendly staffer gave us login information for another network since we were unable to find ours. The TV is not mounted on a movable arm, making viewing difficult from either the couch or the bed. The sound on it is very bad. The fireplace is nice and turns on with a switch.||Our cottage had a screened porch facing a wooded trail. The amenities were well-maintained. Parking was a challenge; there are simply not enough spots for the number of cottages there. ||There is a natural boat ramp right outside the resort on 1st Avenue NE. This is close to the onsite boat trailer parking. The ride to the Gulf takes about 40 minutes since the entire river is a no-wake zone. If you are in a hurry to fish, you might want to use the Steinhatchee Public Boat Ramp on 1st Avenue S.||This resort would be a great venue for a destination wedding, family reunion or business retreat. There are informal gathering places throughout, including fire pits with seating. ||||This resort is head and shoulders above any other accommodations in the area. Steinhatchee is a fishing town. If you are not into fishing, there is little else to do. This resort, with its many amenities, cute cottages and wooded setting,...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed in house # 26 and I was pleasantly surprised. Very nicely decorated comfortable furniture, well thought out. Small kitchen but perfect for the two of us. Beautiful old wide plank wood floors. The only problem was the tub shower combo. It was a large soaking tub that was deep and hard to get into. There was a rain head shower and then a hand held wand. If you used the wand everything got wet and The tub was very slippery, and difficult to get out of. It would have been better just to have large walk in shower. This is really the only reason I gave the house 3 stars. Everything else would be 4 stars on the house.|The grounds were very nice. Great pool area along with Hot tub. You need an additional key to get in. Walked into the lodge was very nice but there was a large party there at the time.|There is a boat ramp along with docks that are on a first come base. It accomadated our 20 foot boat. There is a petting zoo but no animals at the time. There is a real cute church on property wanted to walk in but was locked.|Overall I think the grounds are very well kept and I would recommend this place. A jewel in a small...
