The Lodge at Sweetwater Studios — Hotel in Petal

We reserved a Hilltop Tent for two with a king sized bed for the weekend! We were right next to the fire pit and grill which was great! We were greeted throughout the stay by the owners’ dogs, Dora and Diego, which were just so sweet. We were the only guests there Friday night, which was amazing to have the whole place to ourselves. Saturday night there were a few more guests but everyone and everything was still very quiet and relaxing. We were able to utilize the outside showers that had 20L of hot water in them with a large rain shower head. The bathroom was nearby as well so we didn’t have to go far. The best part and hidden gem of The Lodge is inside the greenhouse. We were able to enjoy the saltwater pool (which was a little cold being that it is still March) but very beautiful and also the hot tub that are both inside along with a small fish pond. Speaking of fish, the owner invited us to a nightly fish and duck feeding that he does on the property. Even though he was busy dealing with some issues that had popped up, he was very attentive and was able to answer any questions we had. We were also able to buy firewood for $5 a bundle as we had forgotten some. Forgot to add there is a sauna on site, as well as a yoga dome if that is something you enjoy. We spent most of our time in nature, but may check it out next time! We WILL be returning as soon as we find more time to get away! I said this to the owner and I’ll say it again… I can’t believe this place is in Mississippi! If you ever get the chance, do yourself a favor and stop by! Wonderful family owned property...

I cannot say enough good things about this place! If I had to describe it in one word, I’d say “tranquil.” I love that there isn’t such great cell reception, and if you think you need it, you’re missing the point 😄. Every single detail has been thoughtfully considered. I’m not the most outdoorsy type, but having visited twice (on a brutally cold night and a very warm summer night), I was comfortable both times. Aside from the beautiful surroundings and relaxing atmosphere, there are two things that really do it for me: the pool and the yoga. The greenhouse, which has the pool and hot tub, is like something from a dream - perfect in every way. And btw, luxurious robes, towels, and just about anything else you could need is provided.

Then there’s the yoga. You’ll need to make sure that yoga will be available when you book, but since I live nearby, I arrange my plans for when yoga is available. Not only is the yoga dome the coolest thing ever, Airon is a truly gifted yoga teacher. She asks about your preferences and mindfully incorporates everything into the perfect practice. A mantra that she used in October 2022 is something that has stuck with me (you’ll have to go yourself to find out!) Airon is truly the magic behind the place, and her hospitality is unmatched. You should go! (But not when I’m there with my friends because I love having the place...

Expectations were exceeded when driving up. Well kept facility. Everything seemed nice and the area is absolutely gorgeous. The cabins worked very well cold A/C great comfy bedding. Cooking area and fire pit was great. The yoga area was very peaceful and amazing views. The area overall was extremely relaxing. Some things did seem off but Idk if it was off season but some things seemed unkempt like the spa area. The toilets in the cabin are really tight on space. But that is literally the only complaints. Everything else was top notch. Its a great camping experience and possible wedding venue or work retreat. We loved the wild life the ducks and the dogs (love frankie!!! What a sweet heart) next time we will be staying in the tents. Bigger shower bigger toilet area. Should you choose this for a getaway weekend to unplug? In my experience absolutely. It is well worth the price and you should not pass this up. We will be catching an event hopefully soon. But we will definitely be back. This place has so much potential in being a luxury retreat. A hidden gem of south mississippi that needs to not be hidden. Add a full time yogi and spa service treatment with a health snack bar and drinks and the possibilities are endless. Book...
