The meadows on Rock creek is a truly special place- you'll notice this as soon as you drive onto the property, but every minute you spend there will reiterate that feeling. You'll be greeted on the property like a friend, with all of the staff helping to ensure you're as comfortable and happy as possible. The wildlife are abundant (we were lucky to see a moose, some deer as well as plenty of squirrels and a few rabbits. Some of the other guests mentioned seeing some elk on their horseback riding tour) and the gentle sounds of the creek and wildlife really help create a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere.
Will is an exceptional host, doing his absolute best to accommodate you in your stay. He is also a great storyteller, and just a great guy to be around. His vision and passion for the land, conservation, fly fishing and hospitality are immediately evident. He was happy to show us to some special spots on the property, which had some amazing views and cool stories about the start of the ranch to go along with them.
My fiance and I had never been horseback riding, and we were blessed to get to ride with John for a 3 hour tour of the property. The horses were kind and easy to manage, even for complete beginners and we were able to see some amazing sights. We were totally comfortable the entire time, and John's cool presence was a big part of that!
In the afternoon we were lucky to have some incredible fly fishing on the rock creek. Zach helped get my Fiance set up, having never fly fished before, and she was able to hook and land some incredible fish. He was always ready to help us in our river crossings and made sure that we were safe and comfortable at all times. Laine helped me find some great spots and get hooked up in some bucket list fish (the western slope cutthroat here have some great color and can put up a nice fight)! Both of us left the river in time for dinner with huge smiles on our faces that we just couldn't wipe off!
Finally, the food here is nothing short of delicious. The chef, Casey, made unique and incredible meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. He was happy to accommodate our dietary restrictions, and what he came up with was delicious and filling. You won't go hungry on this ranch!
All that is to say, the staff and location make staying at the Meadows on Rock creek a truly special experience. We hope to be back someday and spend...
