They were the only Passport of America Campground we found that gave 1/2 price for every day of your stay so we booked a week there. The Covered Wagon Resort is on one side of Sturgis Road but we had to go to Secora Station across the road to get a full hook up site with 50 amps. My, what a shock; sites are uneven and place badly maintained. We backed into a site and the one next to ours had much litter on the ground, beer bottles, a cooler, old boards and other debris left by the former occupants. Luckily the garbage was picked up the next day by maintenance, somewhat of an improvement, but the lack of consideration from other campers there like not picking up their dog poop just showed us what caliber of people stay at this places. The first night we were there a mouse ran across our kitchen counter top. We immediately bought traps and sure enough the next day we trapped one. Never again, until they show some improvements. Passport should drop them...
Read moreMaybe you'll get lucky & just stay in a tent, if you book a 'cabin' be very aware you may be pushed into a garbage dump. Sent check 4.30.21 for 1/2 of $567 rental, yeah I know, I should have known better. A friend recommended & will be fair to say her rental was acceptable. We were pushed into a long term live-in rental that was NOT ready for rent, & they knew all along they'd push us 'somewhere'. Last person had taken everything, except the horrendous smell, flies, garbage a few feet away, & a carpet that was disgusting, & I do not to ever know what had been in that rental before. Again to be fair the owners 'tried' to smooth this over, brought fly strips & roach motels...yay? We spent far too much vacation time w/ maintenance issues, dog poop outside, bugs & a TV, who cares! Wasn't there for TV during Sturgis week. YES we negotiated the rental price, & still had to pay far too much for this long term...
Read moreWe had our family reunion at this resort. It is small and intimate resort yet can accommodate those who need cabins, RV sites, or tent sites. It had a covered area in back with electricity where we could congregate and also a fire pit in front of the office with chairs and tables for bon fires at night and also a place to gather. The owner did a great job of meeting our needs and taking care of us. This resort is located off I 90 in between Sturgis and Rapid City. It is close to all the attractions in the hills as well as grocery stores and everything you need.||The cabins are older but have been updated and kept up. The beds were comfortable. Some had kitchenettes which allowed us to prepare all the food we needed for our reunion. We couldn't have been happier. No pool or...
