EDIT: 11-26-2018... I am not an inspector, I am just giving my experience at the Inn to hopefully help others. As I stated in my review, my father-in-law booked and paid for the rooms for us, which is why you didn't find my name in the system. Thank you for taking the time to respond and for looking into the issues I mentioned.
We were in town to visit with family and stayed overnight here. My father-in-law had booked and paid for two rooms (one for us and one for them). The staff was pleasant upon check in. We parked around back and the first thing I noticed (aside from the unfinished utility door to the left of the rear entrance) was the security door did not lock or even completely latch. There was a non-functional key-card reader to the right if the door but it was unnecessary to enter the back of the building. There was a strong fragrance as soon as we entered ( I'm not sure if it was deodorizer or cleaner). As we entered our room we immediately inspected the points of entry, given the potential security breach in the back of the building, and found the window slightly opened even though the curtains were closed. The ball portion of the swing bar lock had been ripped off but we did find the deadbolt worked properly. We pulled back the sheets and found detritus, a few stains, and hair, which could have been bits of leaves or something else from the wash but we didn't feel comfortable sleeping in them as they were. That coupled an odd groaning noise which I think was the fridge, resulted in very little sleep for us that night. There was an odd dripping stain on the wall next to the mini fridge, the mirror was smeared by the sink, and there was another odd dripping stain on the door leading into the room. The room was equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, and a flat screen tv (that looked brand new) but there was no tv guide of any kind. There was an indoor pool that was relatively warm, given it was cold outside. There was condensation dripping from the ceiling in certain parts. Right next to the pool was an exercise room that we did not use (not for any particular reason, we just weren't staying long and didn't have a chance to work out). They provided waffle batter, a few different beverages, bread, bagels, cereal, and fruit for breakfast. There was also a toaster and waffle maker. I personally did not like the waffles or the syrup, even though I was looking forward to it. They were both flavorless. As we were in the breakfast area, two patrons arrived to the empty front desk and rang the bell. One also picked up the courtesy phone next to the desk, which rang the desk phone right in front of it. After several minutes, they left. It was just a generally unpleasant experience. Since we were going to be at the hotel for less than 24 hours we did not request a new room, a refund, or even complain. So, in the defense of the staff, we did not make them aware of our disappointment. However, for the cost of the rooms, we were expecting a higher...
Read moreI had so much hope for this hotel. One of the first things we noticed in our room was that the part of the swinging door bar guard that is on the door was broken, so the swinging part was functionless. When we found out that was broken, I thought I might want to check the window. It was open maybe 1/16th of an inch and unlocked. When I relayed this to another guest the next morning, they checked theirs, and their window was also unlocked. The back door to the hotel was unlocked. It has a place where the key card would unlock it, but it was unnecessary because it was already unlocked. There was a single door, I assume to a maintenance closet, on the back of the building as well, and it was so poorly painted and framed, it was laughable. The sheets of one bed had brown crusty things on it, just under the spread. The other bed had brown crusty things between the flat and fitted sheets. There was visible dirt and smears on the counter that held the TV, as well as a dried dripping mess on the wall and the outside of the door. The bathroom was cleanish. It looked like it had been wiped down, but not deeply cleaned. The mirror was not clean. It was wiped, so that all the dirt and grime from it was smeared around on it. The breakfast was ok. The waffles tasted similarly to styrofoam covered in maple flavored sugar water. I will add that my husband's waffle tasted like it had black pepper in it. There were 3 choices for cereal. There were prepackaged muffins and honey buns, among other things, a bit of fruit, and some beverages The pool was warm and fine. The chairs and tables were filthy. There was a used bandaid on one of the tables. The floor around the pool left much to be desired. The exercise room had some equipment, and I did not use that equipment. I have family in this area and would likely stay here again if it were decent. I will not stay here again. The staff was friendly upon check-in. There was no staff to be found at any point the next morning. We have photo documentation of everything in the room because there was a sign on the door about additional charges if anything is missing, and we felt we needed proof just in case. Disclaimer: we did not request a new room because we have heard of many horror stories of hotels moving guests from one bad room to a worse room that might not be so obviously bad, but is much worse. We were wary of that happening, so we...
Read moreStayed there as it was a midway point for family members during the Thanksgiving holiday. At first, some disclosure would have been nice. It sits across the street from a prison. Second of all, upon arrival, we were told we could have gotten a better price if we called. I booked online and after I booked, we discovered they were having a holiday booking sale. I had booked long before the sale started as I plan ahead. Upon arrival they stated we couldn't get that price because we booked through an online agency, which we did not. I booked directly on their website. I also wanted to stay there initially because of the indoor pool. It was leaking and they neglected to mention that also prior to our arrival. Every day we were there, they simply said someone would be there the next day to look at it.
The beds, which they said were recently replaced, were terrible. I could literally feel the springs underneath the top of the mattress. The bathroom had stains on the wall and the trim strips between the carpet and the tile in the bathroom was missing which tells me they've recently treated for bed bugs and didn't bother to put any trim pieces back. The pillows had lumps in them. No comforters on the bed. The continental breakfast was subpar. The TV is terribly outdated and the picture was horrible. We ended up streaming movies on my laptop the entire time we were there (they do have fast wifi, so at least good for that).
Upon checking out, I handed my card keys to the gentleman at the front desk. He asked if I needed a receipt and then said have a good day. No thank you, no how was your stay. I kept trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt, but after ending our stay like that, I had enough. I will never stay at another Americas Best...
