On the downside, the rooms are very small, the shower is tiny, and TV and internet reception are often spotty to non-existent. However, you are probably not there to hang out on your room and the stunning scenery, the dogs, the horses, and the incredible staff more than make up for the downsides.||We were there for two nights, with cold and rainy weather pretty much the entire time. Probably because of the weather, we were the only lodgers there. Carlie and the staff here are more like a family, and they take you in as if you were one of their own. We ate with them and hung out with them in the lovely great room/restaurant in the evenings, chatting, playing games and being charmed by the adorable baby Sage. The chef Christine is amazing. Our meals there were probably the best we had during our entire two week road trip. ||Anessa and Ashley took us on a really great ride. Despite the cold rain, they were cheerful, enthusiastic, attentive and fun. We returned to the lodge to a nice warm, roaring fire built just for us. The horses are well loved and cared for and it is obvious their well-being is a top priority. There are a few board games and a TV in the great room, and a few yard games outside as well.||Restaurants and groceries are about 40 minutes away and the restaurant there is closed on Mondays, only open for brunch on Sundays, and never open for breakfast, so plan accordingly. They do have some continental breakfast items available and there is a shared microwave and small fridge. ||I would also like to add that we looked at several other horse lodges/ranches before we came across Boulder Lake Lodge and the lodging prices here are so much more reasonable than anything else we came across. The BLL wranglers, Carlie and Kodi, apply their personal efforts towards a broader, more holistic adventure, entertainment, and total fun experience for all guests. They use the tools at their disposable such as the comfortable lodge accommodations (limited food), gentle carrot loving horses, and the scenic beauty of the outdoor mountain trails and venues to tailor a grand adventure or event, matching as close as possible within business limits of the customer request. It is so refreshing to hear BLL business respond with a smile and the words “We can try”. Whether it is weddings, family campfire stories and deserts “just to die for”, short trail rides teaching non-experts how to ride and which ear of a horse to whisper into, to longer gear drop rides with scenic alpine views from the top mountain, they know how to do it all. The wrangles do their very best to tailor and create a guest memory of fun, adventure, and scenic outdoor enjoyment (fishing spot trips, and more) that will be fondly remembered for a lifetime by families, groups, or individuals. Finally, not to be forgotten, is the entertaining dog that never grew tired of playing “fetch the stick”, given a whole forest of sticks out the back door. That exemplifies the difference, the smiles and gracious spirit of the hard working staff at Boulder Lake Lodge, to set the stage for the perfect vacation, event, or adventure memory. My family& friends recently held a celebration of life and stayed at the lodge for multiple days. In all the ciaos of life, and this tough situation, Carlie, her staff, and the lodge provided the absolute best experience we could have hoped for. In the months leading up - the planning was simple. Even with over 40 expected guests, all the rooms full, and people coming in from Florida to Hawaii, the timing and accommodations were spot on! We fallowed up the celebration event with a day horse trip, and this also far exceeded expectations. Everything was ready, easy, and the guides added to the experience instead of just along for the ride.
