It seems people either love it hate this place. I for one had a great time. As did my girlfriend and two kids. We rented a four person ATV in the colbrook location. It was a a relatively new machine with about a hundred engine hours. The drivers side door panels were all scratched up from what we were told was someone that had been doing donuts... I think I read the review from the person that did the damage.. the one star review. We bought the extra insurance just in case we rolled it. We didn't even come close to rolling it. It seemed like a very stable vehicle and felt safe on some extreme terrain.
Pros: -gave a true ATV experience without having to buy an ATV. -provided a new vehicle with GPS(iPad mounted to the frame) -Corrine was a friendly host with good communication before during and after our stay. Cons: -I felt there should be one price that should include the maximum damage protection considering the crazy terrain. Asking for an extra $15 after committing to about $500 for the day was a little weird. -i felt there should be a map of colbrook I'm the glove compartment because the GPS wasn't very helpful in town. I ended up having to talk to a friendly police officer that pointers me in the right direction -i think a list of the best views, waterfalls, restaurants, and swimming locations accessable from the trails would have been a nice touch. -our overnight reservations got double booked and I agreed to change tenting location. Corrine was very apologetic so I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. If she over looked the $7 extra wood bundle fee the inconvenience would be forgiven.
Hits: before checking in at 1pm we hiked table rock. A 30 min grueling hike to the top. The to is super exposed! Cliffs on either side but an amazing view. My family went up and down in an hour. sugar hill trail provided the best views and technical driving. -the beaver brook waterfall was super fun to park at the top and walk down on a kind of scketchy trail the spa and black besr tavern in downtown colbrook were out two best meals. The rainbow trout restaurant was full. Reservations should be considered anywhere you go. -Mt. Mount Moosilauke was another great hike. Another hike that took 30 min to the top. If you don't climb the fire tower you will be disappointed because it is the only way to get a view of anything. Scary but necessary. (Disappointed to not see the waterfall close by (I think Garfield waterfall) or moose alley. These sights were all accessed by car not ATV! -watching the sunset from above the camp sites was a highlight as well as sunrises with the food in the Connecticut River valley.
My missteps -should have brought eye protection for my kids for ATV ing -should have brought sheets and a down comforter for the bed. -if you don't want to get charged $7 for firewood...
Read moreBear Rock Adventures was an outstanding experience. I travelled up with my girlfriend and kids. We did the Play and Stay package they offer. The package we booked included a campsite called Secluded Paradise (private, no other tents) and a newer model 2020 POLARIS RZR XP 1000. On the ride up, Corrine greeted me via text message double checking I had the correct address and for an estimated time of arrival. I advised her we were arriving 1 hour earlier than check in time and that was not an issue. We arrived and was greeted by her husband who was all ready tending to other guests but advised us Corrine will be right with us. 5 minutes later we were greeted by a happy and smiling Corrine. She was outstanding with helping us get the proper fitting helmets, going though the functions of the ATV and going though the functions of the GPS that they provide which is mounted to the ATV. She was also very helpful with providing a map that she highlighted great trails and points of interest like food and sight seeing. She then led us to the campsite which was incredible. The views were spectacular.
The campsite had a beautiful clean tent with a queen size camping bed, picnic table, awesome outside shower with heated water and great water pressure, an additional pop up tent was provided at no additional cost, and we could park our vehicle on site. We rented two additional twin size inflatable mattresses for the kids which fit perfectly in the extra pop up tent. The whole campsite area was clean and very well maintained. Great little Firepit with an attached swinging grill for cooking. Corrine went though how to use the shower and the other options that were included with the campsite. Before she left she advised us if we needed anything to give her a call and she will come back the following day to check up on supplies... which she didn’t fail us... everything was restocked including shower water and toiletries...
It’s was an incredible experience and we highly recommend Bear Rock Adventures. We can not wait till next year to experience this again. They have earned us as repeat customers.
Matthew C. Stay was from Sunday August 9th to Tuesday...
Read moreWell I only had to go down about 3 reviews to find another person that was ripped off by this place. Prior to leaving with the rental machine we did a very thorough walk around looking for damaged plastic. There was no mention whatsoever of the wheels and tires, so I didn’t look at them. When I got back, they pointed out to me that there was about a 2 inch scrape on one of the wheel edges and a flap in the sidewall of the tire, about the size of the tip of my pinky finger and 1/8 inch deep. They wanted to charge me for a tire! We went round and round, and ultimately, they have your credit card! There were a bunch of families with us; 8 machines in total. I had a kid on board all day, and we were taking it very easy. We are about 40 years old; not a rowdy crowd of 20 something’s. Out of the 8 machines, including my own machine that I brought; nobody had any wheel or tire damage! I think this minor defect already existed, but since they didn’t cover this in the walk around, I really have no idea. Furthermore, do they know what the trails are like around here? I could understand banging the thing up, but going over those trails, an occasional wheel or tire scrape IS part of the cost of doing business and a $500 per day rental! I told the owner that I also own a business, and could not fathom the idea of turning a happy customer into an angry one over $130! That’s what they charged me for a tire, and they acted like they were doing me a favor by not charging me the full retail price! Imagine that! Stay away from this shady business. Our group rented 3 machines from this place for $1500 or so, and they made us all one/time customers over $130! That is not the kind of place you want to do business with! One other person in our group rented from Trailside, which is way cheaper and he had no issues. Dear owner: I’m going to make sure that $130 costs you at least 10 fold in lost business! Next time we all come up we’ll bring our $1500-$2000 elsewhere, and I hope people who read this think twice about doing business here. The other families who rented with us have a review coming for you too! You are...
