We came to stay for a weekend thursday evening - sunday morning. (Im posting this the saturday night of our stay) and im just glad we’re leaving tomorrow morning. I was not aware of the day time ticket thing and it was near impossible to go kayaking. We’ve been trying to go kayaking for awhile because all the kids, adults, and me really wanted to. Adults with us went to look at the beach around 12 after we got done eating breakfast and getting ready, but told us it was far too busy. Around 2 me and my boyfriend and siblings went to look at the beach to go kayaking and the line was so long to get life jackets but the line was so incredibly long that we didnt even bother. Then we checked the pool and it was incredibly busy that we didnt even wanna bother with that either. And there was a lot of us and it was like we couldnt even fit in the pool so we went back to our glamping tent. We went back up around 3 to check the beach still busy; checked pool also still bust. Went to check at 4, still busy. Decided to go to pool because it was less people, but a bunch of adults started drinking alcohol and were obviously drunk and were on big pool floaties so we were frustrated and left. Went to check beach line again at 5 after the pool fiasco on our way to our glamping tents, still busy. Went to eat dinner in the meantime. Finally at like 6:20 we go up to the beach and there’s no line so finally me and my boyfriend and his siblings were excited to finally go kayaking and we were told “we’re closing it in 10 minutes because the kids and everyone like to take so long to leave the beach” which I understand but it’s still so frustrating because we were looking forward to it all day and couldnt even go. So we obviously looked very frustrated and the worker was nice and was like “you guys can come back at 10AM when we open it” and like that would be nice if our leave time wasnt 11AM. I dont know very frustrating. I feel like this was just a waste of money.
I understand this place wants to make money and everything but i feel like they should shorten their limit of day time passes. So people who paid a bunch of money to stay for a few days could get their money’s worth and get to have a fun time. A bunch of my boyfriends little cousins were crying too because they couldnt go on the obstacle course like they wanted or kayaking with their parents. A very unpleasant stay for us today. I dont know we paid to stay for awhile and barely got to even do anything today!!
Sorry for long rant we are just all incredibly frustrated, and i just feel like there’s an issue at hand here… maybe get more workers too in order for lines to go by faster or limit day passes. The people glamping near us were talking about it to us too complaining. It would be different if it was just me having this issue but all our family members had this issue and our neighbors. I dont know i think there’s an issue here that needs...
Read moreWe visited Jellystone this week on a general recommendation to “visit a Jellystone park” from a friend. We were road tripping home from a cross country trip, so this was park was in our path! We booked for 2 nights, 3 days.
I feel it’s fair to share our whole experience to help other families when choosing a campground.
There is little signage at the registration office. We passed by it on the way into the park and followed the “entrance” signs which ultimately led us to turning around to go back up to the front building to check in.
Check in was fine. They do not guide you to your spot like many other family campgrounds do, but that’s fine since we already got through the park once, lol.
The sites are very uneven, messy, and cramped. We are not major professional campers by any means, but struggled to get a good line up for our 21 foot camper. The cement pad was so close to the rock that our stairs would not sit far enough down to close the door. There was several deflated balloons and trash throughout the site.
Our site was next to public parking. We did not know ahead of time that Jellystone was a public park where the general public can come in and purchase wristbands to do the activities and visit the pool. Public parking is very busy with people constantly walking through our site to get from the lake to the pool.
We lost electric twice during our stay. Very inconvenient when cooking indoors. I noticed upon arrival there was an electric company working, I’m guessing there is a known issue. There was a swarm of wasps in the site electric box.
Our first night was fine.
The next day we visited the general store which is well stocked with Jellystone trademarked gear. That was fun for the kids!
We then went to the pool and splash pad which were the highlight of the trip! Very well done & thought out water park for the kids. My kids had an absolute riot!
We planned for lunch at the snack shack. This was a poor choice. The poor girl working in there was alone taking multiple orders. She got our order incorrect and we waited well over 30 minutes to be served. I don’t blame her at all, as she was the only one working for most of the wait. They did not have any pizza in stock at the time of our stay.
Next we attempted the lake. The water was green murk and smelled horribly of goose poop. We made it to the small obstacle course, turned around, and left the beach.
At this point we decided that instead of staying for our second night, we would depart and head home. Our pack up/departure consisted of two young ladies having a physical argument in the public parking next to our site. Extremely uncomfortable for us and our children to witness.
I do want to note that we did not see Yogi bear one time throughout our stay. Which was a bummer.
Needless to say, we won’t be back. Maybe we’ll try a different Jellystone in a more...
Read moreOur first trip there was great! We just came back today, been there since Sunday! We had a 5 and 11 year old who had a blast. The new pool area is amazing, wonderful, not overly crowded either! Sadly, only Boo Boo made appearances while we were there, the younger one was sad but staff played it well with another person asking and she was happy again! We fished, did the swim area, witbit, kayaking, jumped for days and played a bunch on the playgrounds. We enjoyed the crafts and flag raising. Lots of fun for everyone. Some of these reviews complained about prices and rules and honestly if you read their website it tells you all of it, prices, golf cart prices, wristbands etc. I paid $10 to lock in the site we wanted and had no issues. Some things we noticednor wanted to bring up: Checkout at 11am, but golf carts back by 10am. :/ Having both at the same time would help, we just made sure we were ready tonleave at 10am. I did hear you can stay during your checkout date but we couldn't. That's awesome to offer! Lots of updating going on, how cool is that!?! We are exciting to stay in one of the Cindy cabins, it was our 1st time so we weren't sure the distance and wanted near a park and somewhere more secluded, so we grabbed a cottage. Number 5 actually, it was older but nice! They must have cut down a small bush between parking and the cottage just a small stump was (by the trash bin) and it was dark, my daughter sliced her toe on it. That definitely needs grounded down. With the upgrade wondering if they'll get some facelifts (cottages) we did have a broken curtain and a few outlet covers that were broke or corners were chipped. The kitchen faucet had a pretty steady drip. The husband loves to fish and he mentioned needing more habitat for the fish, some conservation needs done, he did catch a fish and so did the youngest, she was thrilled. The stocked kitchen was awesome. We were leary and strill brought some things that came in handy. Cutting board, tongs, cooking sheet, extra paper towels, tp, trash bags etc. We had our own coffee filters and ziplocs and cast iron for over the fire meals but between the stocked and that it was great! The only thing I didn't see online but was in the book in the cottage was wanting the brooming, vaccuming, and all trash on the curb before check out and set air to 74 before leaving... so read that book for sure! When I did my booking online, I was able to get a deal with the wristbands and that covered all the activites and even the lifejackets but I could not add on a golf cart, thankfully we were able to earlier in the month when we paid for the other half. All in all we had a great time and...
