It’s a shame when a course in phenomenal condition is ruined by terrible customer service, but that’s exactly what’s happening here. A huge shout-out to the maintenance crew for their incredible work. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff is making this place not worth the visit. My foursome, which has been playing here for years, has run into multiple frustrating issues. We had a round where the pro shop opened an hour late, and just as we finally got to tee off, the starter stopped us to go pay—after we’d been waiting around with nothing to do for 45 minutes. On another day, we were harassed by a marshal for being five minutes behind pace, even though there wasn’t a single group waiting on us. He then disrespectfully put his cart in reverse, buzzer blaring, while we were trying to hit. When we said something, he just told us to take it up with the office. It was hard to take the lecture seriously when we could see a six-some playing a few holes back. The final straw was when I tried to take my kids to the range on a quiet Wednesday, found it closed, and was then told by the front desk there were no tee times for us to play nine holes. I got to my car, checked the website, and saw the tee sheet was wide open. We love the course layout and conditions, but we won't be back until the staff learns how to treat its customers...
Read moreThis place is Gorgeous and well maintained. Greens seem to always be in good shape! The greens are always running fast, which is a huge plus for me (I can't stand slow greens). You can't beat the price. I have played places like Edgewood and paid triple and not enjoyed the round at all. Every time I play apple mountain I have a great time. The course is always so green! The trees are endless and very tall which makes for great scenery on every hole. This is the best place to play in the summer because of the shade from the trees. It just never seems to get too hot. The forest just keeps it cool. When you play here you see deer and turkey' s everywhere! If you play Apple Mountain in the spring you will hear water everywhere and the wildflowers are all over the place. The practice facilities are great as well. The range is very long to you can smash a driver all day one it with no worries. They have a nice practice putting green and chipping green. On weekdays you could play 2 rounds and never run into anyone...
Read moreI have been a regular here since 2007 and have to say that no one is exaggerating here about how beautiful the course is, nor how challenging it is. Bring lots of balls for if you're not in the fairway, there's a 50/50 chance it is lost or unretrievable.
Lots of elevation changes... forced carries... and uneven lies. Some greens can be diabolical depending on pin placement. Good to help get that handicap up without sandbagging. Always in great shape, but does not drain/evaporate moisture well due to lots of low spots and shade. Be prepared for squishy conditions in Winter with heavy rain, but weather is usually good year round (and very bearable temps in Summer).
Course is a lot of fun, has a great staff, and is quite the bargain. Pace of play can sometimes be frustrating if groups in front of you feel the need to search for every ball that misses the fairway. Drop another one folks and get on with it... you ain't on tour.
Highly...
