While the pools and views are nice, this place is so overpriced I feel the overnight customers are being ripped off. It's not "rustic," it's a dump. But accommodations are inexcusably bad, especially considering you're paying the same that you would be paying at Quinn's, and twice what you would be paying at Symes. There are two gross shared restrooms. When we arrived they were out of water. so we had to either drink the mineral water or get dehydrated since the local stores had closed. They don't have any regular tapwater on campus. So I drank the stinky mineral water from the shared bathroom sink, the only place I could get it, and I suspect that's why I've had indigestion for the last few days. The rooms are not nice at all. If they had charged maybe $50 a night for the room or let's say 100 for the room and the Hot Springs I wouldn't give it such a bad rating but it's absurd to be charging the same as Quinn's for these cheaply built and poorly maintained accommodations. In my original room they were also out of propane for the heater and there was an overpowering detergent smell so I had to change rooms. They could've easily check that before I arrived. It just seems like they don't care about customer service at all. Not that they were rude but they didn't particularly care that I had no water to drink or had to switch rooms. So bottom line I would never pay for lodging here under current ownership, though the Hot Springs are as nice as any other in terms of water. To be totally fair though there's one situation where you might want to stay here. Campers have access to the pools all night. If you wanted to be alone with your Lady friend in the pool late at night, I suppose this is your best option in the area, especially since the pools are more private. oh yeah one other ridiculous thing that they do, from 8 to 10 every morning you cannot use the pools because they close them to pressure wash them. Of course this wakes you up and so you can't sleep in but you also can't use the pools. It seems the least considerate to your overnight guests who just paid an arm and a leg to stay and would presume, unless they read the reviews, that they would have access to the pool in the morning since you tell them they have 24/7 access. also, there's not a lot to do in the downtime. There's no lounge, there's no chairs in your room, you really just have to leave. Well what about soaking in the morning! I think $170 it's fair to assume you can soak in the evening in the morning before you leave! The staff let me soak past checkout, which kind of makes up for that, but even this was awkward. When I ask them the policy the day before, they said it just depends on who is working. I guess they feel like it's nice, but I shouldn't have to wait and see who's working to plan my day. This is an issue every day I'm sure. Can they not have a policy? Other hot springs let you stay after checkout and they don't construe it as some sort of favor. So it's just not well run and they don't seem to care. The website makes it looks like it could be nicer than it is. It's not. I figured, if they're charging $170 it must be decent. NOPE! They are just shameless with their pricing. Stay somewhere else and come use the springs in the day if you want to. Unless soaking at midnight is really important to you, then maybe it would be worth the cost but come prepared for things to go wrong. Bring your own space heater and lots of extra water just in case they...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I have been coming here for years. We go to both symes and wild horse. The price has gone up so high. $18 per/person for a 2 hour soak. They used to have twice as many pools but only have 6. It's always been a very ghetto place, very old and run down. Leaky faucets in the bathroom toilets that don't flush very good and kind of dirty. But we always love her looked it because we liked the fact that we can change the temperature of the pools to what we'd like. But you can't do that if you don't have one to yourself because you have to consider the other people in the pool. The prices are way higher than other places but we've gone just to kind of have our own pool and it was a possibility. Apparently not anymore we recently went there they charged us the $18 per person then went to go get in a pool and notice all the pools were very crowded. Went back to get a refund and they refused to us the refund. Man was very rude shouldn't be in customer service has a very bad attitude. When we ask for a refund he gave us a very cocky rude expression. Literally said they charge 10% less than other hot springs I find that funny because other hot springs are a million times better than this. Quinn's charges the same amount they're so much better in cleaner. When we said we'd rather just go to symes, he said oh you mean slimes. What's funny is when we went there there was hardly anybody there The pools were nice and clean and the people are always nice. The funny thing is is they really don't have much overhead they usually only have one person working there that I could ever see so they don't have a lot of overhead. I don't understand what they're charging for. And years ago one of the owners came on to my 14-year-old daughter very creepy. I didn't realize he was the owner till years later. It's funny that they cll Symes slimes because they're hot tubs have been pretty slimy at times The walls were full of mossy green stuff. So they do not clean them all the time. But for some reason they apparently think that $18 for 2 hours is a good price...
Read moreWe showed up early evening Friday of July 12th. There was no one facilitating. No one there. A sign on the gate saying they'd return at ten after ten. That seemed odd for the comments I read the day before as I was researching local hot springs someone had mentioned they closed at sundown. I really had my heart set on this spring. The Mother Dragon Geyser. Wild horse hot springs. I remembered reading that a man named Denny D ran the establishment and lived close. Down the drive I noticed a couple vehicles with the wild horse declaration. I went there. Amongst the dogs I knocked. Knock and it shall open. But I was a bit hasty and went to the noise I heard coming from an outbuilding. I wanted in this sacred water bad. The lithium and other 27 minerals...I desired in my bones. Heal the temple. I been living hard and Jenn and I been nomadic for a month. My back to the door I had knocked is when it had opened and I heard the melody of Dennys voice. Can I help you. Awe yeah!!! Yeah man..I said hey I'm Leon, we'd like to soak. With his warm Montana hospitality and without a shirt he said. We can do that. I said we was surprised to see the closed sign. He replied about the heat. Ninety some degrees out. We came for the heat. I sit here tonight staring at the moon as I write this. Earlier greeted by two cats and two horses upon entering for my first soak. Another thirty minutes and Luna will be set to open a star filled sky in Montana where the sky is big. Jen and I read through a lot of comments about this place. I guess ya can't please em all, all the time. For us, with the pools all to ourselves Denny was an incredible host. For me hot springs aren't about fancy amenities. I prefer the ones in the wild. It's about water rising through her cauldron belly to nourish my body with minerals. It's about the sacred water which is life. An outdoor bath under the moon and stars. Thank you Denny D. We appreciate you very much. And yeah we opened the pipe up to get this bath...
