Hi! My name is Amanda Kaye McCluskey, from Alabama and I am a traveling Surgical Tech. I always use an app called Furnished Finders to find my housing for my job assignments and I saw this listing and was immediately interested! Communication was great between the owners and managers, Angela Self and Hope Kalbach!! I was excited to stay here because I could stay here, have the entire RV to myself and my dog, Bear, free Wifi and utilities included for a fraction of what it would be in town!! I really LOVE that this is a pet friendly community!!! It’s hard finding that as a traveler and them not charge an arm and a leg extra for your pets!!! It is just a 40-45 min drive to Augusta, straight shot for my job at Augusta University Medical Center. It is not on the water but you can take a very short drive up the road to Lake Thurmond and be on the water in no time there’s a restaurant, Lakeside Grill, on the water! It is surrounded by soo many parks and sightseeing. Hope is very helpful with that as well, and they have a map that shows what’s all around you and what all you can do!! It’s Just 2hr drive to Clemson Campus and a 3-4hr drive to Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA!!! I have been here since May and they have had some great little get togethers and I have met some really great people through that and with the people staying onsite as well! I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay here!! The RV I’m renting from them, is sooo spacious and clean!! THE SHOWER IS BEST SELLER POINT!!!! Makes me wanna get my own RV now! ITS HUGE!!! Lol!! The campgrounds are great, it’s beautiful, quiet and clean! They just put in some more outdoor lighting and solar lights along the pathways!! They have a small playground for the kiddos in front of the campgrounds. The office is located right in front with a laundry room, they have a small library in the laundry room and with few games as well! On the backside of the office are two HUGE full bathrooms, with nice big showers and all if you need them!! The laundry and the two bathrooms have a code you use to get in and lock behind you! The office has local made goodies and some other nicknacks inside that you could get. They have ice and a few propane tanks you can purchase on site. They also have a Farmer’s Market that comes a few times a year on-site!!! Really love that this is a very community oriented company! Angela and Hope are really working hard to keep this place up, have things to do and they’re expand it! It’s great! I would definitely stay here again and definitely...

I want to start off by saying it is quite and peaceful out there. You get to see deer and many birds. The grounds are kept up nicely with a small fishing pond on property. Worth all that being said, the spots are very small unless you are able to get spot 26 or 27. While we were staying at Lake Thurmond, hurricane Idaila hit Florida, Georgia and other areas. 3 other campers besides ours was there for work and got called to Florida to restore power. Before they left the job got moved to North Carolina. They got called out before we could move our campers. Before my husband left he went to pay our remaining bill and they told him we were good till the 13th. That was over 2 weeks away. When we left I got a bill saying we owed $616.00 for power and rent till the 13th. ( would have been more but they took the $100.00 deposit off we paid) that was for 18 days. So I went over and talked to them and come to find out we were just reserved to the 13th. So we discussed that we would be leaving before the 13th since he would be released and the bill would be cheaper. SoI thought we were at an understanding i would post the bill when we found out exactly what day we were leaving. Boy was I wrong. 2 days later they were texting my husband (who was in Florida and they knew it) about the past due amount.
So for the other 3 campers, I don’t really know the arrangements they had, but I do know that the employees knew they were in Florida on storm and threatening to have the campers towed if money wasn’t paid right then.
Now we were there a couple of months and our first power bill was over $300.00. ( and we were gone a week. Our main breaker tripped every other day. The podium was so hot that you couldn’t touch it. During that month our electric side of the hot water heater broke. Not sure if the 2 are connected. But when they changed our breaker the next month our power bill was cheaper running 3 a/c’s. They said nothing about it when I brought it up.
A few things they do not mention when booking is power is over priced. They charge $50 extra per person a month...
Read moreWe loved it here. The rate was perfect. The manager, Hope, was super kind and kept the campground updated constantly with events, progress on repairs on the water, or when the local town issued a boil notice. The campground was conveniently located close to mccormick for shopping needs, and many trails, state parks, and boat ramps along its namesake, Lake Thurmond. My husband and oldest son enjoyed several excursions on the lake and we enjoyed a family hike along the Bartram trail on the Georgia side. The laundry facility was nice, temp controlled, and the machines took change or you could pay with an app. They also had books, movies, and games to borrow. There was a table that campers could get their mail and leave free items for other campers. The bathrooms were temp controlled as well and were nice, waiting on some updates, but still clean and completely functional. They had a cute playground, corn hole, and a beautiful public firepit as well as a catch and release pond. We would have stayed longer, but unfortunately some careless and dishonest transient hit our camper causing significant damage so we had to leave sooner than planned to return to our homestate for repairs as it displaces us while its in the shop as we're fulltimers. (Not the campgrounds fault). So our only "complaint" is that the security camera that was facing our site, didnt catch anything. Hopefully they might update it to a constant feed camera, and maybe add a few more in places to protect the other campers.
We really look forward to coming back one day as this is on our saved list of favorites and we have so much to explore...
