Treesort SC — Hotel in Plum Branch

Log winded- but, I’m honestly not sure how this listing has so many positive reviews. Our experience was disappointing. Upon arrival, we noticed the weeds and overgrown underbrush all around the cabins and the outdoor commons game area- most of which is poison ivy. Definitely not as cleaned up as the Google photos of it. When we entered the cabin, it smelled very stale and like mold. The AC upstairs was covered in a thick dust- which isn't helping the smell. There was dog hair everywhere on the floors, couch, and on the extra linens and blankets. Speaking of the linens, the towels provided were soured- which was incredibly off-putting. There was food crusted onto the wall behind the sink and on the wall behind the trash can. The tv trays were sticky like something had spilled on them but wasn’t cleaned up. The blinds on the front window were broken in half. The water in the bathroom has a rank smell to it. We immediately drove to the dollar store not far down the road and bought candles, wall plug ins, gloves, magic erasers, Lysol, disinfectant spray etc. I spent the first 2 1/2 hours scrubbing the dingy toilet and the pee off of the toilet seat & cleaning things I mentioned above. There was a mound of dust/dog hair/dried liquid crusted onto the floor under the couch. Just very not well maintained or cleaned, at all. We didn’t realize there wasn’t a microwave and full size fridge when booking. Our mistake, but still disappointing when the fridge provided barely fits a gallon of milk and lunchmeat. We had no water around 9:30pm one night, it was fixed quickly- I will give them that.

We had expected a clean and welcoming space based on the reviews, but this felt neglected and unsanitary. I’ve stayed in many Airbnbs and rarely leave a negative review, but future guests deserve to know what they might be walking into. This rental needs a deep clean and better oversight before being considered...

Treesort is such a special place. The treehouses, seclusion, attention to detail, the views… you won’t want to leave! Far enough out that you feel like you’re in the country, but close enough to town for modern conveniences, this place is the best! The lake is close by, so pack your swimsuit.
