Since I don't own an oversized luxury camper, I probably looked like the Beverly Hillbilly from California until the trailer park boys moved in across the road. First off the campground is Prairie Flower; therefore, I had to search for the flowers. The trails are very well marked and there are a few splendous varieties to be seen. The campground is spacious to be sure. I was in slot B38 and there was plenty of room for expansion. All sites have electric. With my parks discount I only spent 11$ a night. Can't beat that price even though I really have no need for the electric. Sites don't have many shade trees directly. But, there are trees and I spent time chasing the shade. The heat was directing my exertion level and erecting the screen house seemed like too much sweat. I didn't have bug issues. The northern loop sites looked like modern day wagon train groupings. And the volleyball court was very well groomed. Large oversize play equipment for children.

Friendly workers. Clean and manicured facility. Lots of dump stations. Potable water pumps throughout the park. Noon checkout time is too early. 25'ish miles to the High Trestle Bridge. HTB Trail is awesome and has lots of fun stop offs and a few bathrooms along the way. Can start the trail in Ankeny which is only 5-8 miles eastward from Prairie Flower.

Nice paved campsites on two loops (B and C, a few on the other loops) which is very helpful with a large RV. Spacious sites and clean restroom facilities. We try to stay here every summer during a weekday here and there, but since all sites are reservable nearly impossible to drop in on a weekend. A shame to see sites reserved and then no shows.

I love this spot to camp at... With a camper and a tent, there is a lot of room at each campsite to lounge at. The addition of the metal rack on the picnic tables is amazing. It is really handy to have when you are using a cast iron grill. The playground was perfect, for young kids and small babies too. Only wish there were swings. The Army Corp does a great job on upkeep of the shower houses. I never walked in to it dirty at all. Having all of the roads one-way is really nice, especially with young children playing and riding bikes. This weekend/week has been a...

Took the family out for a last minute weekend getaway and had a really great time. The campground is well maintained and has several playgrounds for the kids to use and large grassy areas to play in, plus our site was on a concrete pad and had a fire pit and a nice picnic table. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, too. We got lucky and booked the last available spot for the weekend the day before. Don't wait if you want to be guaranteed a spot here, book well in advance. You...
