The lake is beautiful, the grounds are well maintained. The campsite was spacious and there were trees and bushes to provide privacy. But the experience was ruined by an arrogant host Chuck Jantzen. He was rude, intimidating, loud, condescending. We had reserved and paid for 3 nights online. He kept coming around and demanding that we put cash money in the box to pay for an extra "camper". We had 1 camper but since my vehicle was a van and I could potentially sleep in it, he wanted me to pay $44 per night instead of the regular $22. I asked for clarification twice. I have an access pass due to 100 percent permanent disability, which grants half price fees. He agreed that I had paid enough online. Then he came back yelling at me to pay. He demanded that I show him the access pass, then asked what my disability is. I believe that is illegal. My ptsd was through the roof, so I left the campground a day early. The next day I went to enjoy the lake with my family and he found me there and yelled at me to pay the money. Meanwhile, another man working there told me that he harasses people for extra cash fees and keeps it for himself. I did pay the extra. NFS, please find another company to manage this...
Read more9/29/2024 The female host was extremely rude. We pulled in to the first entrance which is also the boat ramp area, we pulled over into a parking space, just to not block the truck pulling a boat coming out of the lake. The host ran up to us yelling at us and saying we couldn’t park there, that it was trailer parking only, yet no signage, I tried to explain to her that we were just waiting for the truck to pull out of the ramp, she didn’t want to hear anything we had to say, demanding we pay $5 x2 for our 2 cars, she actually over charged us as we are all Senior Citizens and had National Park Passes. I mentioned to her that she could talk nicely to us, she said “I can talk any way I want to” This being a US Forest service park, I would hope this rude host get respect training...
Read moreWe loved this place! We stayed at the Birch Loop, and our camp host did a phenomenal job at keeping the site clean. The bathroom was cleaned and stocked daily, and it had a pleasant smell of apples. For him to take the extra mile to keep up with that really impressed our whole party. We stayed at lot 15, and we could’ve fit two RVs and a tent in this spot. The site is large enough that you have neighbors but you can’t really hear or see them. We were scared we would end up smack next to a neighbor, and honestly, we felt like we had a pretty private experience. Enough tree coverage to keep it private that way. The site is an easy 5 minute walk to the lake, and if you’re missing supplies, the gas station up the road is also a great place to hit! Would stay...
