Perfection!! From the moment I drove up to my room I knew I was going to love this place. Set on the shores of the Salish Sea (for those who don’t know, that’s the body of water that forms the border between the US and Canada in this part of Washington) the grounds are filled with views and beautiful gardens. A reserved parking spot immediately outside the door to my room also showed an arbor of flowers next to a wide deck with deck chairs and table poised looking out over a groomed lawn to views of the sea. Completely contactless check-in and checkout and immaculate premises demonstrate the concern for our safety. The bed was extremely comfortable with deliciously silky sheets. The water pressure in the large glass-doored shower was excellent. But it’s all the extra little touches that demonstrate so clearly the care and thoughtfulness of the owners. The toilet has not only a warmed seat but also an integrated automated bidet. There is an air purifier in the room. Instructions are clear and simple for everything. The furnishings and decorations are tasteful while also being practical. And they allow you to pre-order food for the room. I had a charcuterie plate, a bottle of wine and sweets waiting for me on my arrival. I also had a lovely breakfast-to-go in my fridge that I enjoyed while while admiring the view over the lawn and sea before my departure. I will absolutely come back here on my next visit to this part of Washington!

I had ten days with no responsibilities. Just to be, to explore, and to find some sense of calm outside the hustle and bustle of my busy life. I chose Domaine Madeleine for a perfect getaway, and I wasn’t disappointed. Domaine Madeleine is a nice establishment, but it isn’t so nice that it feels as though it only caters to the ultra wealthy. All amenities one could hope for, and more were provided for. I particularly enjoyed the common room with extra toiletries, snacks and just about anything you could easily forget to pack, yet they provided for their guests.

The grounds are stunning! With a full-time gardener on staff, you can really tell they have a love for plants and flowers. But what was the most unique which stuck out above all else was a detail I fell in love with and would keep me coming back was the fact that the owners took the zen/spa life approach to the next level with their gorgeous zen gardens. There is a coy pond, secret private nooks for meditation escapes (my favorite part!), amazing plants and flowers, and towering trees, which had an almost Japanese garden inspired. Near the coastal side of the property, there’s a big covered bed which is well worth a good book and a lie down. The views are lovely, and on a crisp warm day, there’s nothing better than laying out, staring up at the clouds coming in off the water, and simply meditating to the rhythm of the surf.

Domaine Madeleine can be found surrounded by beautiful fields of lavender and other cultivations, and when you turn down their private drive, you’re met with a dazzling array of colorful wildflowers. When arriving, you get the feeling that you’re in a private escape, which is further solidified by the fact that each room has it’s own outside entrance and parking spot. My room had a king bed, huge tub, tv, sitting area inside and out, and a private bath. I never once felt like I was being intruded on by other guests as I thoroughly enjoyed the private, secret getaway style feel that was provided there for me. It was wonderful. I felt my years of built up stress wash away with my time there over the first few days and when it was my time to head south for my next accommodation, I was sad to say goodbye and remember thinking I wished I could have stayed...

I stay here once a year, and this is my favorite B&B. This review is mostly for the Cottage, although I have seen the suites inside the main house and they are pure luxury. | Stephen and Chris are wonderful hosts. They are unobtrusive (no awkward 30 minute new-guest conversation when all you want to do is go to bed), but lightning fast to respond to any concern you have, large or small. Emergency bottle of wine? Can't find the wine opener? Winery recommendations? Consider it done! They want you to be happy and comfortable. I feel like a celebrity when I stay here. Anything little travel thing you need, they have it at the main house or the laundry area, or they will find it for you. | The suites are all beautiful, but my True Love is the Cottage, because it shares no walls and is the ultimate in privacy and quiet. I am a very light sleeper, so this matters. Between the comfy bed (with a fluffy duvet that is so warm it might be powered by magic) and the absolute quiet, I sleep better here than I do at home. There's a little fridge and microwave, a huge TV with streaming services, and a cool electric heater with "flames" that change color. Easy-to-understand written instructions are provided for everything techy. The walk-in shower is big enough for two, if you're into that, with great water pressure. The Cottage is pet-friendly, but is cleaned thoroughly between guests, and I've never once noticed evidence of whoever-came-before-me.| A gourmet breakfast at the main house can be arranged (and it's worth it), but I opted for the breakfast-in-a-box delivered to my Cottage. Every morning, it was tasty and elegant (SALMON SO FRESH!!!), and I always had leftovers to take with me for a beach snack.| DM is just a great experience all-around. The view from the back lawn is breathtaking, and the gardens surrounding the property are cleverly landscaped, with winding paths and secret little nooks and hideaways, and art hidden everywhere. The Olympic Peninsula is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and Domaine Madeleine...
