I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding my experience at your boat rental facility on Saturday, July 1st 2023. I have been a loyal patron for several years, but the behavior of your staff during my recent visit was deeply troubling. I find it incumbent upon me to bring to your attention what appeared to be overtly discriminatory practices by your employees. My family and I arrived at the facility around 1:30 PM to inquire about boat rentals. We were informed that the rentals were paused due to wind conditions and were advised to return at 2:15 PM. During our wait, we observed that your employees, particularly one who identified herself as a teacher, appeared to display preferential treatment towards a particular demographic. It was explicitly evident when a Caucasian gentleman was allowed to wait inside for rental availability while others, primarily of Asian and Indian descent, were turned away until a later time. The culmination of this unsettling behavior occurred when the rentals were resumed. Despite being second in line, I was skipped over multiple times in favor of Caucasian patrons. It was as though an unwritten hierarchy was being enforced, based solely on race. The egregiousness of this preferential treatment was not lost on other patrons, as many of us began to openly discuss the apparent discrimination that was unfolding. It is my understanding that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race, color, religion, or national origin in places of public accommodation. It is deeply disheartening to witness such behavior, especially at an establishment that my family and I have cherished for years. I urge you to thoroughly investigate this incident and implement comprehensive diversity and inclusion training for your staff AND let go of those who favor only 1 race. It is essential to foster an environment that reflects the values of equality and respect for all patrons, irrespective of their background. I look forward to hearing how your establishment plans to address and rectify this deeply concerning issue. This experience has resulted myself in tears for hours that evening in the shocking hate and power hungry employees and how they were treating myself and my family and all those waiting. This was the weekend of freedom and independence, this experience shared the amount of hate and power hungry individuals hired at Log Cabin Resort. I am urged to reach out to our family lawyer to discuss this hate instance further as I have connected with many upset people of color on that day who felt the same discrimination and will be moving forward until these specific employees are addressed and let go- they have no place in a NATIONAL park...
Read moreMy family stayed in one of the A-frame Chalets for two nights in mid-July. It was my wife, our 10 month old, and myself. The price for the chalet as opposed to a lodge room was quite reasonable, especially when compared to other in-park resort options.
The Chalet: The Chalets have sleeping accommodations for six. Two full beds and one large futon which could be pulled into a third bed. My wife and I found the beds to be firm but comfortable and we slept well both nights. One bed was in a 2nd floor loft, which was accessed by staircase as opposed to the usual ladder. There was a fair amount of living space, including a table and chairs. On the small patio there was a picnic table. The kitchen area included a double basin sink, large mini-fridge, mircrowave, and coffee maker. There were large cabinets but they had nothing in them. If you were staying for a longer time period they'd be useful for storage. The bathroom is primarily what keeps this review from being 5 stars. The shower was very small but there was a large vanity area. The nicest aspect of the Chalets was the view from the large back windows which looked out on to Crescent Lake. Going out the back door we were maybe 10 yards from a shallow wading area where ducks would swim which my son and other children enjoyed watching.
The Lodge: The lodge has free wifi which I did not discover until we were checking out. There is a restaurant and general store which features food, camping supplies and souvenirs. Others have stated that prices were high in the general store, which they could be for some items, but I found prices to be reasonable for many items especially compared to what I've seen at other hotels or resorts. Firewood and full meal options were expensive, but I was surprised that beer (a nice selection) was the same price as in gas stations that we had passed on the way in. The restaurant was expensive, but no more so than other national park resorts that we have eaten at. The food we ate was notably better than we had at other places on our trip as well. The lodge had some tailgating style games lakeside and a wading area. The wading area was unfortunately COVERED with goose poop, the other factor keeping this from being a five star review.
Summary: The lake that the resort is located on is quite beautiful as are the surrounding mountains. It was about two hours to Hoh Rainforest and an hour to Sol Duc. The drive was shorter to Hurricane Ridge and into Port Angeles. Though the accommodations are slightly limited compared to the larger resorts, the rustic feel and stunning views more than made up for it. This would be a great getaway for a family reunion or...
Read moreWe booked our stay last minute (2 weeks in advanced) and on a holiday weekend (July 5th-8th). I was shocked we were able to get in! I really wanted to be lakefront, so I booked the A Frame cabin right on the water. The A Frame cabin was AWESOME! Full, newly updated (ish) bathroom, kitchen area and cool spiral staircase in the middle that goes up into a loft. The teen girls really liked it! The water was literally 5-8 steps from the backdoor. The room was super clean. The only thing was the lack of privacy. The A Frames have a picnic table out back, so each family was right next to you. It really wasn't a big deal, but it could be if you are there to party. The next 2 nights we stayed in the camper cabins (the A Frames were only available for one night). They were VERY basic. So, it was hard to go from a room with all amenities to basic. It is a log cabin with heat and 2 beds. It was fine for us, but the teens like their own space in the A Frame. Walking to the bathrooms (which are close) was not as fun after having your own, especially after a few drinks :) I purposely did not rent the newer cabins because I wanted a waterfront view and looking at previous pictures, I did not think that I would get that. I was WRONG! Each cabin, A Frame, tent and RV spot has a view of the water and mountains and it is GORGEOUS! The newer cabins are like BRAND new with 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, living room area and kitchenette (others do not have a kitchenette). Each cabin has it's own firepit and table. The staff was friendly and helpful. They stay out of your way, which I appreciated. We went over to the Lake Crescent Lodge for lunch one day. Even though it has a log and looks more updated, everything is right on top of each other. So, we were happy we stayed at the Log Cabin Resort. The lake was the most beautiful place I have EVER been in WA. Overall, we WILL be coming back. Already scheduled to stay again before the end of summer. You HAVE to visit this place at LEAST once, but trust me when I say, you will be counting down the days...
