I would give 5 stars for the food it is great and the lodging is really nice. Except when we were given different rooms than the one I actually booked. I booked the red fish suite and the group of 4 I was in was split in to 2 different rooms without any heads up or price adjustment. Sadly drinking and eating was the highlight of our trip it would have been nice to at least hangout as a group in the suite I originally booked to play cards and such. 1 star for the duck hunting portion of our trip. Our trip may be 4 of the worst days of duck hunting I have ever experienced. Lack of preparation, scouting ,hiding, no motion in the spread the list could go on. We weren’t asked what we wanted to hunt for or anything. We hunted until 9:30 every morning basically. 3 hours is a half day??? I would have been tickled to death shooting my 2 red heads per day but our guide was “bored” of red heads. I didn’t come all the way down fromWisconsin to shoot a handful of green wing teal we were trying to traffic because we never once setup on a loaf, feed, or any type of x. This is my second review. I wanted to keep the first one light hearted because I was still processing the trip. The thought of our time at bay flats is not a good one and im shocked how I could leave there without a trophy redhead at the very least. You guys made a gesture after my initial review but it’s not good enough for me to spend thousands more of my hard earned dollars to take another chance of having a similar outcome. It’s been well over a month and I’m still floored from it. The cherry on top was the 3 guys from Alabama shooting more ducks their first morning at the lodge than we did in 4 days it was a fantastic parting gift finding that out. You give yourself the title of a premier lodge then it’s also your job to maintain that title. Just so you all are aware still not a finger lifted to make things right months later. If you come here to duck hunt understand that you are a paycheck here. This is a volume lodge get em in get em out. The hunting is completely dictated by weather. They do not have any private fresh water holes or leases. You’re hunting on public right next to all of the other googans. Book at...
Read moreThis our third trip to Bay Flats Lodge and we left feeling a bit underwhelmed this time.
As repeat customers, you already know the routine and what to expect; and as usual, the staff didn’t disappoint in their hospitality. They are always friendly and super helpful.
We stayed in the Teal Suite and for future travelers, you should know that this room is connected to the pantry or some other part of the Lodge kitchen, and is very noisy. A connecting door (why it’s there is confusing) provided access to conversations, banging pans and lights coming in around the doorframe every morning around 3:30 am and during dinner prep. If you’re a light sleeper, I recommend you choose a different room, one not connected to the main lodge.
The food is great, but is the exact same menu every single time we go, and when I asked to change my entree to seafood one night (and was assured they would do that) I was still served the set pork menu. Apparently the morning person didn’t relay the request to the dinner shift. A change in the menu, just even for breakfast, would be a great way to enhance the food offering. And if there are choices for breakfast, the staff should share that (eg yogurt, toast, cereal, etc).
Our fishing with Todd was great, the weather made fishing tough, but our dedicated guide worked incredibly hard to put us on some fish in very difficult circumstances (wind, fog, cold, rain). We enjoyed our time spent with him.
Our vacation ended in illness. On our way home, my husband and I both suffered from symptoms of food poisoning, and remained sick for two days. Since we didn’t eat anything other than what was prepared at the Lodge, we can only assume that it was something there that caused our illness.
With all that being said, the trip this year left us disappointed in what was always a wonderful...
Read moreThis summer, I brought my company, ARP Roofing, to Bay Flats Fishing Lodge in Seadrift, TX, to celebrate our team’s achievements—and what an unforgettable experience it was!
From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. The food served at Bay Flats was nothing short of phenomenal—each meal felt like a five-star dining experience, with a mix of Texas comfort and coastal flair. The chefs truly went above and beyond to make sure every meal was an event, which made our evenings together that much more special.
The fishing guides were incredible—professional, knowledgeable, and determined to make sure we got the most out of our time on the water. Thanks to their expertise, they put our entire team on fish, providing an exciting adventure we’ll all be talking about for a long time. They made sure everyone, from the seasoned anglers to the first-timers, had a great time.
But what made this experience truly remarkable was the camaraderie it fostered among our team. Being out on the water, sharing laughs, challenges, and triumphs while reeling in those catches—it allowed us to bond beyond the work environment. This trip helped us build stronger relationships that will undoubtedly carry over into our work life.
Bay Flats Fishing Lodge provided an experience that was far more than just a fishing trip—it was an opportunity for our team to connect, celebrate, and create memories that we’ll carry with us. We can’t wait to come back....
