Stayed here for the first time and was absolutely impressed!! Had no idea where I was headed as my brother in law put this trip together. What a gem!! Started with the owner Christy who keeps the place immaculate. Rooms are large and spacious and has everything you will need. Clean linens, incredibly comfortable bed, towels, coffee machine, room fridge and even a separate fan in the room. Shower pressure was amazing which my wife will love when I come back! The central space has a great kitchen that we cooked in along with plenty of tables and chairs for large groups. Fridge, oven, dishwasher, microwave and drinks for sale in a large fridge if you forgot to bring your own or run out. Great outdoor pavilion space as well! Now onto the dove hunting! These folks have taking much time and effort to create first class hunting fields. Plenty of space to roam and once their crops take off, it will be phenomenal. Still too hot for the birds on this trip but we will be back. Christy then connected us with a fishing guide named Ricky who grew up in Seadrift. What an amazing guy with great stories, but more importantly, put us on great redfish! The fishing was spectacular!! Would highly recommend Ricky to anyone going down there to fish. All in all, I can’t wait to get back down there with friends and family and enjoy more of what the Texas gulf coast has to offer while staying in fantastic “bunkhouse” accommodations!! I’d give a 6-star...
Read moreAs a retired Army veteran living in Japan, my wife and I don’t get the opportunity to get back home to Texas but once every 5-6 years or so. Our last trip a few months back was definitely a memorable one, when we were invited by Carl and Christy to stay overnight at the lodge. After a quick tour of the lodges accomidations, we all headed back down the road to a restaurant that, what I would refer to as the “Gathering Place” for pretty much the entire town. Awesome community, awesome food with unbelievable awesome prices. After meeting a few of the locals, we headed back to the lodge where some of the local friends and family started BBQing, playing guitars. We just drank, ate some great BBQ, and sang the night away. The next morning we had the opportunity to get a personal tour of the ranch from Carl, and got to hear all the stories of the cattle, alligators, dove hunting, and the blood, sweat and tears that it took, to get the lodge up and running. Folks I can’t express enough the hospitality that you will receive, the cleanliness of the accomidations, and just down home country feel that you will experience when you book your time at The Bunkhouse Lodge. Thank you Carl and Christy for a wonderful overnight stay. Megumi and I look forward to...
Read moreWe stayed two nights at Bunkhouse and had a great time. The rooms were amazing; very clean, comfortable and large space for all your gear and luggage. The showers had great water pressure. The facility was awesome, TVs and good music playing in the lobby, plus the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you could need. They had GE and Kitchenaid appliances and the grills outside were great to cook up a feast. The beds and pillows were very comfortable as well.
The owners helped to setup a guided fishing trip with Ricky and our group had a great time on the water. If you are looking for a one stop shop, this is your spot. The Seadrift boat ramp is about 5 mins away and Port O’Connor is just down the road. The location of Bunkhouse makes getting around the area very convenient.
I highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Seadrift and our group will...
